You will be PROUD. These are GREAT knives. The comp lock is exceptional, the design and everything about this knife makes it almost perfect. Be careful or you may become what my neighbor calls me......... "Mr. redundant" Congrats, enjoy and be safe.

Nice! I'm just curious- where did you end up ordering yours from? When I pull the trigger on one of these, I wish to have the newer lock as well, but like OnEdge said, I'm sure it won't matter too much.

What is the difference from the older lock? Also, is this the second, or the third iteration of the compression lock as used on the Paramilitary 2? I bought mine in August 2010 at the SFO, so I think it has the earliest version.

You're gonna love it. When I got mine it beat everything else I have out of my pocket for a good month. For the last week I've been carrying an s30v vantage just to change things up and tonight I put the Para2 in and I'm sure it will stay there for a good while again. Its just so darn smooth and I love the compression lock, although I did catch myself searching for a liner lock a couple times tonight, but that won't take long to get used to again.

Can someone describe the newer lock to me? Maybe my previous unhappy experience with the compression lock was the old version and this new lock will sweeten everything up.

I believe the newer lock has the release tab a little farther forward, and the tab itself is a bit wider. IIRC, on the newer version the tab seems better centered in the "cutout" in the scales as well, but that may just have been my impression ...
Mine is sitting at home in the box right now! (just talked to spousal unit) - really starting to hope it's the newer version lock as well ... got mine from KC - I'll let you know.

Yes! Very happy with my new Para2. New version lock to boot. Very nice balance and ergos - in the EDC rotation immediately and likely will dominate it - at least for a while ...

I too am a very happy new Paramilitary 2 owner. Got my first one for my birthday a few weeks ago, then a week after that I picked up another one at a knife show. Love these things! So smooth and the compression lock is great. Go Spyderco!

It seems the Paramilitary 2 is the new "it" knife for enthusiasts. It really is that good. Mine is the first version and I look forward to getting my M390 version with the updated lock. The older lock requires too much perfection is how you squeeze it to get it to unlock, and the blade will not jus fall shut no matter how hard the lock is pinched. I gather from reports here and on BF that the new one swings free like an axis lock when released.
