Seen this collection?

#1

Post by Simple Man »

I thought I had seen or was aware of most of the collections that were online. I ran across this the other day looking for info, and was surprised. Quite a few old ones here. Also, some I have never heard of, such as the SAKAI Workers and the embellished 2 screw Workers and Standard, Hunter, and Executive. Edit: it looks like they are one-offs. Standard, Hunter, and Executive that is (Benno Heune?).

(BTW, I'm not connected an any way, shape, form or fashion to the collector. Taz or Kristi, there is a price in the link, but this is about the collection. If this is an issue, I'll delete as necessary, or you are welcome too also (of course).)

The Spyderco hole is a rotating mechanical assembly of one part.

Some of those are in bad shape. It looks as if some don't get even basic care much less the cleaned, renn wax treatment a large collection is worthy of.

cool ones for sure but i think the only real one to bring in alot of bucks would be the Dino or the sakari< did i spell that right? worker.

obviously they took the Worker damascus and the reproduction 2screw Worker from a Evolution set and added scales. The originals would be better i would assume.

in this day and age I would only look for a lot like that to resell each one and make money and I dont think that would happen at 20k nor 10k?

You never know. The name of original owner can add value to collection. Still 20K looks a little too high.

Yeah, I don't see 20K at all, even mint. But, there is a lot of early history there. I imagine the value would be higher if some of the ones he carried and had engraved, weren't.

But, that brings up another point. This guy obviously enjoyed his collection, no matter what it's value is today. So I applaud him for using them and see the collection for what it is, early Spyderco history, and a glimpse into a longtime collector/user's life.

We might as well enjoy the life God gave us while we can.

To answer the original question, yes, links to that collection have popped up here a few times over the years.

True Roman, but the opposite can also apply. If the original owner is, to put it politely, eccentric enough the authenticity of at least some of the pieces may come into question and negatively impact the collection's value.
