I'm excited... Pacific Blue Bone Kopa!

#1

Post by Stasis »

I've wanted a Kopa since they were introduced, but I just never got around to picking one up. However, perusing Ebay yesterday, I ran across the Pacific Blue Bone version and knew I couldn't pass on it!

I noticed that there seems to be a higher number of the blue bone Kopa on the market right now than any other variant. Did those just not sell as well as the other versions, or is it just a fluke, or what?

Either way, I'm glad to finally add one to the collection, and I'm going to be refreshing the shipment tracking info like a madman... :D

This is nice knife, congrats. One of my favorite Kopa variants.
They were on clearance at SFO, and probably at distributor after were discontinued.
One seller on e-bay sold 12 of them within last two weeks and price is great. The same seller sold probably even more a while ago, some of them even for less. Quite a few Giraffe bone Kopa as well.
Enjoy the knife. It is very capable cutter.

I think the Pacific Blue was one of the less popular variations, as it seems to consistently be the cheapest on eBay. I got mine last year for the same price. I was planning on taking it apart and making my own scales for it (like Tony does), but once I got it in hand I realized that the pictures didn't do the blue bone justice and I ended up not modding it.

AFAIK, the only Kopas that were closed out a low prices where the last two, the Squash Jigged Bone and Carbon Fiber. Given that, and that approximately the same number were made of each of the sixteen versions, I'd just chalk up current prices and availability of the Pacific Blue one to the vagaries of the secondary market.

Paul,
Blue Pacific bone and Giraffe  Kopas were discounted @ SFO at the same time. I didn't see them discounted at dealers, but one e-bay seller (he saying that he is also Spyderco Authorized dealer) sold tons of them and still selling PB for $79.99.

I love my Kopas and the Pacific Blue is one of the blue ones that tickle my fancy seeing as it is my favorite colour.

Glad you grabbed one and are liking it. IMHO the Kopas is a very nice and capable gents knife albeit with a magic clip that has a polarising effect on those who see it ;)
