I like this knife, just it's uniqueness i think. What are your opinions? Favorite version? Pictures?

I have my Native 4 sitting in my pocket right now. I carry it and my Delica equally (which says a lot because I love my Delica too). I like the swedge, which isn't on too many Spyders, and how light it is without the liners. It's also a less expensive way to try out some S30V if you haven't yet.

is it actually small enough to be a coin pocket knife? It didn't seem that small to me, could someone show an in-hand picture perhaps? :)

The Native made in Golden Colorado should be a staple of every Spyderco lover/collector/user. It's a great knife with a lot of versatility. It may look kind of "stabby" to some people but I think it's a really nice user.

I have owned a Black SE bladed model, a Purple forum model, a regular PE Native, a Native III in SE and PE, and now own a pink Native.

The CPM-S30V is great, and never have I had a problem with a Native. Love that knife!

how was the black SE? i like the look of the black on black, but have never owned an SE, my soon to come Stretch is an SE however, so should i opt for the PE that way i'd have one of each? for more versatility?

I loved the black SE model. It was even before they had the Spyderbug on the blade so it was real stealth looking. It was a wicked knife but I got a lot of crazy looks whenever I used that bad boy. ;)

I wouldn't suggest that because there would always be a sharpened portion of the blade exposed. If you reached into your pocket you could easily cut yourself. I think it would also qualify it as a dagger because o the 2 sharpened edges.

i love my native 4 pe :) great looking knife, feels awesome in hand especially with the jimped choil to put your index finger on... gives great control. at first i was a little bit put off by it being pinned rather than torx screws... but just like my other pinned spydies.. it's silky smooth in operation & locks up tight. i am a huge fan of spyderco frn handles... to me they just feel nicer to the touch than g10.

i guess you could sharpen the swedge but it's quite wide (about 2mm at the thickest part) so you'd have to remove a fair bit of metal to get it sharp.

I didn't think about the edge being exposed. That'd be cool if you could though ;)

I never realized how hard it is to get a decent picture of a knife in my own hand....they were all horribly blurry. But in my hand the Native pretty much disappears. I have sort of medium-large hands and the entire handle is covered by my hand and my thumb rests on top of the blade (or sideways resting in the spydie hole)so that you see only about 2 inches of steel out of the entire knife. And it does fit in the coin pocket of my jeans...

Edited to add: Demon that isn't a Native 4 you have. The Native 4 is the one with CF scales.

You aren't the first to think of it. Nobody wants to explain how they got a spyder bite on a closed knife though.

While Spyderco did make a few black-bladed Natives in PE, the majority of them are SE. If you are going to get one of those, you will have to do some searching and most likely pay a much higher price, as they can be hard to find. But they DID make a small number of them. :D
