Money Clip Knife?

Hello there!

I searched the forum and couldn't find a post like this so I figured I'd post it!

I am curious as to see whether any of you :spyder: fans use one as a money clip?

Doesn't have to be a Spyderco, could be a Buck, Gerber, Boker, etc(I'm sure most of you would use a Spyderco).

When I carry a large amount of bills I prefer to "money clip it" to be inside my front pocket rather than my rear pocket/wallet. It'd be nice to see some examples or preferences for good money clip knives.

Thanks!

Take care
-Matt

Good call on the D'Fly 2. I think the Dragonfly G-10 would be the best money clip. Anything with a wire clip will work. Also the Kopa seems like it would make a good one. Also I think I've heard of people using the Cricket for one. The upcoming Chaparral looks like it would be an excellent money clip as well.

Both the Dragonfly 2 and the Cricket would make a sweet money clip. Both can be had for around $50

It has been suggested a Spin can be used as a money clip, but I think the clip is too small. Maybe for a few bills, but not a big wad of them.

I use a SOG blink, I've tried a whole bunch and so far it is the best I've found.

I prefer wire clipped Spyderco's:

I have the following:
Sage 3
Meerkat sprint
x2 Chicago's
x1 Cat

I have the cricket along with Carbon Fiber Lum but I'm not sure if those clips would hold the cash like the wire clips do.

I'll try the Sage 3 and Cat, possibly the Chicago(handle might be too small).

Keep 'em coming guys!

I'd go with a Cricket...or if you need something that will take more abuse without scratching in the pocket with change and other objects..Check out Boker's Chad Los Banos, Subcom series of knives. I know lots of people who carry them as money clips and love them....Doc :D

I sometimes use a Boker Titanium Subcom by CLB :p or a Spyderco Kopa. The Ti Subcom is very thin and flat and makes a great pocket companion.

Looked at the topic title and thought, 'Chad Los Banos'. Carried a Wharcom for years and it fit this niche perfectly among other roles, have given away a couple dozen Subcom variants over the years and many of them have become money clips. I've tried it with a Byrd Robin...Just didn't feel the same. A Cricket might be nice, has some class to it.

I've been using a SS Cricket for the past few years and it holds 20 bills or 1 bill just as good as the day I bought it, great little multi-purpose EDC.

Another point of view...my Spin works fine for even a fair amount of bills. Ive never had a problem...though maybe i dont carry around enough money :D . If you want the most unobtrusive clip, Spin is it. No question. It is rhe thinnest, smallest Spydie for the task. Ive also used my Balance and Navigator. The Navi is Dfly size. It works well, but is just bigger. I prefer small money clip.

wow, i cant believe no one has said poliwog
fits a few bills folded very squarely within the shape of the knife

to me, the poliwog is one of spydercos most underrated designs. besides making a great moneyclip, i believe the ergos are the best of any knife ive held

Cool knife Gus and I agree about the most underrated thingy, but as a money clip it's too bulky...might as well put a brick in your pocket with a rubber band around it...Doc :D

Don't do it on a regular basis because cash, especially folding money, is virtually obsolete. With the exception of fast food restaurants and vending machines while on the road, I can barely remember the last time I paid cash for anything. :o So, aside from a twenty and a couple singles in my wallet, I rarely carry cash. However, at various times I've used a Lava, a Navigator II, and a Boker SubCom for that purpose.
