You raise an interesting argument, but I would counterpoint that the Police model, while large and a bit heavy, can function perfectly well in EDC cutting tasks. The classic fine tip is reminiscent of earlier models like the Endura and Delica 2, and with the swedge piercing is a dream.

Next the slim profile makes it disappear smoothly into the pocket, and despite the tip-down only configuration you'll find that deployment is smooth and easy..even with a four inch blade. Once out the ample amount of handle allows one a confident grip.

Speaking of grip it's been argued that the all-stainless model is prone to hand slippage. True, but die-hard fans like myself counter this with a strip of 3M grip tape. If this doesn't suit, a G-10 variation is available.

On the subject of public use of said knife, even I'll admit it can be a bit intimidating. To remedy this, I carry a Grasshopper model complete with a friendly-colored lanyard in my coin pocket, ready for use in less-than-knife-friendly environments.

In summary, while it's not the knife for everyone, it's been in production with little alteration since the beginning so that speaks volumes. As someone once said, "Try it, you'll like it."

...wait, what were we talking about again?
