Pimping your GB; G10 on the move!

Hi guys, as I showed my latest mule (COS-3) in G10 few weeks ago, I thought this cool stuff could also be applied on my favorite folder.
Behold; my Gayle Bradley in coyote G10 milled-textured pattern :D

As you can imagine I took an easy (and my most favorite) folder with flat scales. Not one with specific scales like for example a PM. Hey, I am an amateur!

Enjoy,
Tomas

That looks very well done! The liner grinding looks pretty clean as well. Good job!

Great job, that's the first modified GB I've ever seen. Any chance you could post a thickness picture between the original GB and the G10 scaled version? I've been looking into new scales for mine, but can't figure out how to keep it as thin as it is.

Very nice! Nice color, but what I really like is that you did something cool and different with the G10. I love it. Thanks for sharing.

Initially this G10 was peel-ply with a nice texture of its own: 6 mm thick. I grinded it back to 4.5 mm but that was way to much. I did not feel good in hand, even with rounded edges in my large hands. At that point I could make the scales thinner only on the outside because of the drilled counterholes. ( I am an amateur ;) )

After that the liners were smooth, but finally I added the texture. That worked out pretty good; looks good, feels great and added control. The original CF-scales are 3 mm per piece. Mine are slightly thicker; about 3.5 mm per piece. Compare the lanyard tube on both GBs in the pic: The CF is even with scales, on the G10 it is slightly deeper in the material...

Thanks! You did a very nice job keeping those scales almost the same size as the regular GB, ~1mm is pretty close. I agree with what was posted above, the texturing looks very useful and original, nicely done.

Here is detailpic of the texture. I used a dremel-tool with a small sphere-formed mill. Following the liner-line didn't work out exactly. I did my best but it stays handwork...

That's a very impressive pimp job! :D I like the border at the edge with the texturing -- really makes the mod pop.

hush! Actually I stole the concept from Jazz. He started showing us a great SS-delica with the same texture. I did the same on my own SS-D and now transferred it on this custom-scaled GB. Don't tell anyone!!

:o I'll take that as a compliment, but I sure don't consider it stolen... and it looks perfect on your G10. By the way, nice shadows you got in those last pics - really shows the dimpling nicely. Gorgeous!

Very nice Tomas, almost looks like a factory job with that border you left on it. Well done!

Absolutely a compliment Jazz, great concept. I am EDC-ing the pimped GB for a few days now a really like the texture. I am about to order more G10, so more spydies to come in this pattern!
With the idea of creating your own anti-slip-texture, peel-ply is no issue anymore. Besides that the scales don't have to stay flat anymore. That said makes new scales even more custom.
