Thought - Ed Schempp designed SD folder
I am a big fan of Mr. Schempp designs and i was thinking that maybe someday we will see a dedicated SD folder designed by Mr. Schempp with his trademark ergonomics and a shape that he considers best for SD.
How cool would that be? .......Extremely cool if you ask me.... :)
what do you think....?

I can't think of a single Schempp folder that wouldn't be a great tactical knife. Even his Balance per blade inch has a seriously gracious grip.
He bangs the ethnic lines out of the park. Many of the designs are interpreted from blade cultures dating back hundreds if not thousands of years. They have practice using steel in questionable ways.

It would be interesting to see a Schempp design specifically aimed at SD, i do agree the ergonomics and handle designs are so good on his knives that they make excellent SD choices already, the persian is just outstanding all around IMO, the combination of design and quality materials and manufacturing from spyderco is hard to beat.
That is kind of what I was thinking. Any sharpened edge is a viable SD tool, but most if not all of Ed's works I have seen appear to go way beyond a sharp piece of steel.Blerv wrote:I can't think of a single Schempp folder that wouldn't be a great tactical knife.
It is all in how you use it I suppose. I am no SD pro, so take it for what it is...

I guess it depends on what you classify as a "SD knife". These threads are coming out of the wood works lately.
Most of Ed's designs have most of the following (if not all features):
* 3+" blade
* Solid locks
* Grippy handle material
* Terrific ergonomics with generous handle cutouts
* Negative blade angle
I would like to see his take on a wharncliffe or hawkbill-esque type blade while keeping it ethnic. Like a Kuku Macan, Clurit, etc.
I think most of us would LOVE a Schempp tanto too. :)

YES , YES , and YES !!!!I would like to see his take on a wharncliffe or hawkbill-esque type blade while keeping it ethnic. Like a Kuku Macan, Clurit, etc.

I own most of Ed's designs and think that ALL of them would be good for SD, at least out of the ones I own.
