Paramilitary 2 side to side blade play

#1

Post by navajasound »

Hi .I have a para 2 and it has very little side to side blade play .I did't expect that ,because of the new bushing system and I am a bit dissapointed .
How many of you have the same problem ? Is it just mine or it is the same with every para 2 ? What is the point of this new bushing when there is blade play ? wish it was like the military in that aspect .

Mine had a tiny bit. Nothing a quick turn of a torx bit can't fix.

My two examples both have a very slight amount. It's difficult to detect and I suspect many wouldn't even notice it in the first place. It is unnoticeable while actually using the knife, at least to me.

I was able to adjust most of it out by playing with both sides of the pivot screws and both sides of the stop pin screws. When all 4 of these screws are adjusted properly horizontal blade play should pretty much disappear or be extremely slight and unnoticeable in actual use and also, as a side benefit, the blade should end up well centered between the scales in the closed position.

None on mine at all, just received it two days ago. Perfectly centered, no play and best retention compared to my other Spydies.

Please check out my Para 2 poll thread. I think there is some good statistical information in it.

Did you tighten the screws?

Here's what worked for me. First, I tightened the stop pin screws a bit more. Then I adjusted the pivot screw to how I like it.

A bit of blue loctite and everything's good to go.

My para 2 feels like a fixed blade. Have you tried adjusting the pivot? Try cranking down on the pivot all the way while squeezing the handle.

Thanks for this post, the stop pin seems to have fixed my blade play. Not sure why that would be loose!

I've never had a folder that didn't have a slight bit of play. This ranges from a slight wiggle to a visual gap in the handle. It's subjective thus defined by each person. In a quality knife slight play does not effect function, not does it being off center.

Those are potential problems with a knife using a pivot.

Mine has neither side-to-side nor up-and-down, even when I really press...

I just got my para2 and it is perfect. It has no vertical or horizontal blade play.
