My only folder just broke  and I want to buy a new one. It must be under 3 inches. Basically I'm debating between the Delica and Persistence. IMHO persistence is good cuz if it gets lost it's not that much. But then again, Delica is also a great blade. What do you recommend?

If it is the only one I would opt for the higher quality blade steel. the Delica takes up less pocket space. When you as as skinny as I am you notice differences like that. Perhaps the Native fits the length too, I would take it over either of these and it's affordable also.

Thanks dude but...LAPD are nazis when it comes to knives. I'm a minor and can't risk a misdemeanor.

A Delica with the saber-grind plain edge was my first Spyderco knife (talk about gateway drugs), and I trust it more than any other knife I own. In fact, I love it so much I picked up another with the full-flat ground blade (which I would recommend more for general EDC tasks, it takes a sharper edge, slices like a laser, and has a more precise, pointy tip). It's right under 3 inches, has better blade steel than the Persistence, and will probably outlive you (if you don't abuse it).

The Delica is nicer than the Persistence for sure, i like the blade better too. Plus the choice of sweet colours and not too much more expense, gives it the edge ;)

The value folders are nice because they are low cost with good quality. But if you can afford a little extra the Delica is a much better knife IMO. Delica's fit in the hand a lot better than I thought they would not to mention a better quality steel blade. The Delica 4 w/VG-10, FFG knife is a great choice that you will not regret. I like cutleryshoppe.com but you may find a little better price on ebay (check shipping amounts).

At first I thought the "value" model (Tenacious in my case) was just as nice, but over time I would notice little things that I just like better in the ~$50 models..things like not having the pivot loosen habitually with use (i eventually loctited the tenacious), having better metal in the screws so they don't strip out, and just overall more attention to detail and superior materials and workmanship. That's not to say that Chinese spydie's aren't great knives for the price...but I never really carry my tenacious anymore-it's basically relegated to "beater" status. My FFG Delica, on the other hand, is something I EDC fairly regularly and take good care of, and like I said, the nice little details just shine through.

So, as you might have guessed, I'd recommend the Delica pretty strongly. $50 isn't that much for a knife in my eyes..I mean there are many people who EDC their $400 Sebenzas and use them harder than I use my $60 knives. I even have several spydies in the $150+ range. I know $50 is a lot for most people, but just think about the amount of use you will get out of it. Especially since it'll be your only folder...I'd definitely recommend spending the extra $20, because in the long run, 6 months to a few years down the line, you will definitely be glad you went with the Delica IMO, and see those nice little perks that come with a super high-quality knife. I'd also suggest getting the FFG version in the color of your choice.

As an owner of both a Persistance (value folder) and a Delica, you will be happier with a Delica, in my opinion. I carry the Persistance often only because I like the fact the cutting edge is the entire length of the blade. Makes for more cutting with a "somewhat" compact knife. Though, not as compact as the Delica. Also, a couple swipes across a strop the softer steel on the value folder is razor again.. Problem is, I have to do that EVERY night. Either the VG-10 or the ZPD-189 will keep an edge for a lot longer. If you want a knife that will stay sharper longer, Delica! That's my vote as with most of the previous posters.

Between your two named choices, definitely the Delica. Better steel, nicer knife, and not that much more money. The saber grind VG-10 makes for a strong blade, and the back-lock provides for ambidextrous blade release.
