Spyderco / Ritter collaboration?

#1

Post by Padawan »

I'm curious if the concept of a collaboration between Spyderco and Doug Ritter / Equipped To Survive has ever been considered. While most people immediately associate Mr. Ritter's knives with BM and the Griptilian, there are a number of other Ritter collaborations with different manufactures as well. The philosophies of Mr. Ritter and Spyderco appear on the surface to be somewhat similar when it comes to knife design (strong emphasis on functionality, durability, and value), so a collaborative project seems as though it could make sense. I am personally very fond of the Ritter blade designs, and with the vast lineup of Spydercos upon which a Ritter collaboration could be based, along with Sal's continuing willingness to entertain new and innovative ideas, I think there's the potential for a truly great end result.

Anyone else have some thoughts on the idea?

Doubt it, it would be too similar with his current BM collaboration.

It wouldn't necessarily need to be similar, especially considering that there are also currently Ritter collaborations with Becker Knife and Tool, Lone Wolf, and CRKT.

I think Mr Ritter is pretty committed to BM and I'd hate to see relationships be endangered. Similar I'd love to see more Chad Los Banos collabs but he's in tight with Boker. :(
