That is a really beautiful knife ... it's even going to challenge my love for the Caly3 :D

Seeing the thickness of the blade, must be one helluwa slicer, folding razor with point. Enjoy Paul, nice pics as always. :)

Even though I prefer linerlocks over lockbacks I will DEFINITELY get this over a Sage1 any day! That's a wicked slicer!
Awesome! :D

Great photos! I can't wait to see and handle one in person!

One thing I really like about the Sage is the contouring on the left-hand scale to accommodate the liner lock. For some reason, this contouring hits my fingers *just right*. I'm sure the Chaparral will be great - but I'll miss the Sage contours.

Deacon,

My eyes thank you and my wallet whimpers. Guess who is going to win? ;)

Great shots!
I see there is only one screw holding the spring holder, so there has to be a "blind" pin in there somewhere to hold it. Taking this one apart will be a challenge. If you care to do it.

Great pictures. I can't imagine how crazy the knife world would be if they released this in orange and blue g-10. I'd go bankrupt instantly.

Well scale switch should still be possible if you like that sorta stuff. :p

Hey Deacon,

How does it compare size-wise to an Urban?

Yes, it is. Excellent slicer, excellent stabber too. :D

Can't say for sure, but given that it's thinner than the Sage by an entire handle side, it might work just as well for you. Or, it might not. Nothing works for everyone.

Might be, but I'm not going to take this one apart. All I can say for sure is that when you remove the clip screw, the scales can be moved slightly, so they're not glued down.

Chaparral is slightly larger than the Urban. Comparison shot posted here

This is nice. It reminds me a lot of the Native 4. I really like the trapezoidal lock release for some reason. Maybe just because it's different. I also note that there is no Boye relief on the lockbar, which is applauded by at least the photographer in this case. I wonder if the lack of the Boye relief has something to do with the different shape of lock release or if it's just coincidence.

Either way, my only gripe is the tip-up only wire clip and that's just a personal preference. It's a wonderful knife that ought to be an excellent gentleman's knife.

Thanks, Deacon!

It looks like it land right where I was hoping it would: not quite as hand-filling as the Salsa, but not quite as sleek as the Urban. I can't wait!

Excuse me because I'm spyderco stupid but is this a new model coming out or is this a old discontinued model?

That would look nice next to my delica for EDC rotation :)

It's new and, as yet, unreleased ... Paul was very lucky to be sent a preproduction knife for evaluation ... and because he's a jolly nice chap :D
