Sal & co Please could we have aftermarket lo ride clips for Delica & Endura I know at one time you were working on this.Perhaps if this is not possible could we have bead blasted finish clips instead of the SHINY :eek: clips that are on some other models.Surely even in the land of the free discretion is preferable.Merry Xmas to all.

Agreed, Sage and caly 3 are great edc options in NYC :D

Greenfly: Great question, an aftermarket low-riding clip would be great for making EDC a little more discreet.

Evil D: Nice job, , ,what kind of steel did you use? And, did you treat it to make it a spring, or leave in annealed? It looks very functional.

I just got a Para2 at the SFO on Saturday, and I absolutely can not believe the price-point for such a sweet knife. I may be naive for saying this, but I'd say it offers the most 'bang for the buck' of anything in the Spyderco lineup. However, the clip is highly polished, making it a bit un-necessarily conspicuous. I am planning on going back to the SFO to try and pick up a black clip for it. They are typically only a few bucks, and it never hurts to have a spare around. I think this should help. Ironically, when I went to the SFO Saturday my intent was to pick up a CF Caly 3 because it has a nice discreet wire clip. As fate would have it, they didn't have a CF Caly in stock, but they did have a Para2, , and I certainly didn't expect that.

I'd love a low riding clip from Spyderco. In the meantime I've been happy with titanium ones from STR and usaknifemaker.com

I started out using a prong off a BBQ fork LOL. It worked ok but then i ran across this junk knife that had a big long clip on it and the 3 holes lined up almost perfect with the Delica holes...i just had to open 2 of them up a little and it screwed right on. It's already heat treated. Those STR clips are awesome though.

Just treated myself to an STR low rider clip for my Manix 2. I always liked how similar the blade, choil, and handle seemed to a beefy Sage, but that stock stamped clip Spyderco's been using lately was the only turn off. I don't mind the Military's exposed clip as that knife handle is 5.5" and needs to be poking out to Spydie drop and fit in pocket, but the Manix never seemed nearly long enough to need an 1"+ of knife hanging out. I really like this knife now, as it feels like a bigger, badder, pointier Sage in a new steel. The clip also feels lower profile while holding the knife in hand than the original clip.

STR does great work but someone very recently enquired about a clip for a Delica & he said he wasnt making them anymore.I thought that as Spyderco probably sell more Delicas & Enduras than anything else an aftermarket lo ride clip would make sense.Yes I can drop it in my pocket out of sight but when you are working its not always convenient.As nice as your clips are on your bigger knives a Delica is my preferred user light ,slim ,solid, sharp & small pocket footprint.

Did you ask him yourself or is this just internet hearsay? I have a hunch he'd be able to make you a Delica clip no prob, just send a quick email or read over his order form for the models listed.

And good work on that homemade clip Evil D. That looks really nice and functional, way better than I would expect a BBQ fork to yield. :cool:

Hi Handwreker, No I havent asked him but the information is from a very recent request on STRs Blade Forum but I am always happy to be proved wrong.Wouldnt it be nice if they were freely available though I am obviously not on my own in wanting these.Be lucky.

Heh, thanks but that one isn't the bbq fork...it's a clip from another knife i bent up to work. I originally just made a regular clip replacement out of the bbq prong and it was nice but then i got the idea for the low rider clip and bent the prong up into what i guess you could call the prototype.



It worked pretty good but it wasn't springy enough.

I don't know where you heard this but its not the truth. At the risk of walking a fine line here for advertising I dare say I have to make this correction just for the record. I have in fact made three clips for Delica 4 models recently. I enjoy making pocket clips and will continue to do so until I'm old and gray, oh wait, correction. "Older and grayer!" :D I may tell someone on occasion that a clip is not possible for their knife due to several reasons or that I quit doing barrel clips due to them being inherantly weak due to the large hole for the barrel but that does not mean I have quit making clips. With that said, my apologies to Sal and Taz for having to pop in here correcting this. It is not my intent to be trying to sell anything on your great forums.

Sorry to hear that, but it sounds like it's for a good reason.

The date of this post is key. I was asked if I can make a clip without him mailing me the knife. At the time this was not possible and I told him so. I now own a Para Military 2 which uses the same mount pattern. Since I now have the pattern for this clip, and did not have the pattern when this question was posed that means things have changed in this regard. So, regarding the question posed to me in the link above on my forum, I could now answer this question in the affirmative. Again my humble apologies for feeling the need to correct this. I have made adjustment to the post linked.
