Please help me find a barong

#1

Post by PaulVB »

Hello all,

I am a relatively new Spyderco fan. I started off with a ffg delica this past summer and have since been enjoying my khukuri. I would really like to purchase a barong but cannot locate one anywhere on the internet. All the sites that claim to have it on google shopping later email me that they do not have the knife in stock. Not even ebay has one right now. Does anyone know where I can still find a barong? I know I'm about 2 years late on this, but better late than never. Thanks so much for you anticipated help.

Sorry friend by while you may not have intended it these threads are often "fishing for PM's".

Try knife BST, candlepower forums, or eBay. You might even put up a "WTB" thread on CPF.

Good luck. I have been looking for one for awhile. I bid on one last week on Ebay but when it got over 175.00 I let them outbid me. It ended up going for over 200.00. Too rich for my blood. Actually glad I got outbid because 176.00 was my highest bid and I figured I would get it for less. This was a case where I didn't mind losing. Still, I would like to get one someday. They really dried up quick after they discontinued.

Thank you for all the replies! I am new to this forum and I certainly didn't mean to break any rules with my posting. Bluntrauma, I also bid on the barong on ebay, and like you, I was glad I was out bid. I also made my max bid $175 and couldn't believe that it sold for over $200. Doc Pyres thanks for the tip on countryknives.com. They do actually have them, but they're at full msrp. I'll have to do some soul searching about how much I'm really willing to pay for such a cool knife. Thanks all for your help. If you see one floating around out there, please continue to reply.

The best thing to do is watch all the buy/sell/trade forums like a hawk, and be ready to jump if you see one for a good price. That's how I got most of my rare Spydies, most for very good deals (including a Barong). Good luck. :D

That's the truth. I've seen two Barongs in the past week or two go for very low prices. A NIB one for $125 and an excellent condition one for $100 even.

I can't help you with pointers as to where to find one, but good luck in the search! I carried mine this weekend for the first time in a long time. Great knife. I'd love to see a Barong 2 with a compression lock and a bit more edge ground into the blade, maybe a real 50/50 choil... hint, hint.

Thanks again everyone. I've got a Barong on the way and I'm really excited. The addiction deepens...
