ClusterFlux's Photo Thread

After pontificating for more then a month, i finally got tired of trying to make my mind and just bought the Assist. Yesterday, i went to a local store to buy some EMT Pants and various other items of equipment i needed for work and saw two 440V millies on discount just begging to be bought! Sadly I can't afford to keep both. Anyhow, here are the resulting photos! If anyone has any requests/ideas of different angles or backgrounds you would like to see please tell me, it'll give me something to do!

Cheers,

-CF

I was surprised how thick this sucker was! It measures about 17.5mm thick!
Image
The assist dosen't sit very deeply in the pocket, but it stays there and is very easy to access.
Image
A Corny little montage...
Image
I was also surprised how big this knife was! Fits really well in the hand even when wearing thick extrication gloves. This photo shows the 440v Millie on top, and a D4 on the bottom.

My two favourite knives to carry on the job!

While i was at a photo thread i thought i'd post pictures of a free 5.11 knife case i got yesterday (sadly you can't just buy it). I've converted it to a "Knife FAK" for quick in-field maintenance.

The current contents of the middle pouch. I'm strongly considering adding in some bandaids...

Nice pictures. For a second there, the thickness picture I thought one millie had a blade wider than the other. That's when I noticed one of the ones I was looking at was a Delica. :p

Didn't have anything better to do this morning so i took out the trusty Macro lens for a close up look! 440V macro pix to come later on today! Sorry for the dirty knife, i should have cleaned it before...

One of my only complaints about this knife is that the lock bar does not sit flush with the back of the blade...
Image
By far my favourite feature of this blade shape is this little bump at the very tip of the blade. Unlike other rescue knives with sheep's foot blades, this has no point whatsoever making it impossible to stab a patient or anything else.
Image
The tip of the blade articulates with this little metal piece, pushing the carbide tip out the end when the blade is squeezed into the handle. My other complaint is that the flat surface was not smoothly ground, thus making squeezing out the carbide tip feel like rough and scratchy. I might take apart the butt assembly and smooth down the surface on a sharpmaker stone...

Nice pictures, I think we have a partial print on that last one. :p

You could really remove any doubt from a sales thread with pictures like this. :D

Yeah, before i didn't like big knives but ever since getting theese i'm loving them more ant more. I'd love to use these for EDC, but it just feels wrong using such an amazing knife. Hopefully i can find one for a reasonable price...

No problem! I'm glad you enjoyed my photos. Out of all the rescue knives i've looked at this one is by far the best and i can't wait to put it to the test for real in the field! I'm very confident that it will preform 100% of the time for years to come!

Image
The two last back spacer posts (on the "pommel end") have some pretty colours, and a bit of dust...

Here is a quick "mod" I did to my kiwi 3. First i wet-sanded it with some 2000-grit sand paper and flitz'd the crap out it. Still planning on polishing up the blade. It's not quite mirror polish yet, and still could use some work...

Yes i know that's not the original Kiwi Box, the original didn't make for a very interesting photo...

Just got this in the mail today, and I'm in love! Never would have thought I'd ever get my hands on one of these beauties!

Image

Image
A comparison of how much handle is exposed when clipped to the pocket. From left to right: Yojimbo, Delica, Military
Image
Another size comparison shot. Military on top, Yojimbo, Delica 4 on bottom.
Image
Comparison of all three closed. The military-sized handle gives alot of space for large or gloved hands, while the Delica-sized blade is more nimble, and NKP friendly.
Image
The Yojimbo has a rediclous 3.9mm bladestock (same as the Military) while the Delica only has 2.5mm.
Image
It seemed very fitting to take a picture of the Yojimbo on my Japanese cherry tree...
Image
This little guy jumped onto my leg while I was shooting, and i was able to coax him onto the knife. To thank me for disturbing him, he tried to leave a nice poo on the knife...
