G10 dragonfly won't get decent edge

#1

Post by SpydieZ »

I don't understand it, usually out of all the steels I have knives in I can get the best results with vg-10. I just got my g10 dragonfly in yesterday and I am really disappointed with the edge it came with. I tried to touch it up on the sharpmaker with no success. Has anyone ever had a problem like this? Any help would be much appreciated

Mark the edge with a sharpie and make sure you're actually sharpening the edge and not the shoulder.

Its bevel might not be the same as the Sharpmaker default.

You have some choices: touch it up at the factory bevel, re-bevel it to your liking, or (if you haven't done any appreciable grinding yet) send it in.

Personally I would not be satisfied with a :spyder: with a poor edge out of the box. The price, and the reputation, justify better.
