Hi All,
I'm new to the Spyderco family, and was actually influenced into adding a knife to my EDC system are watching several videos by Nutnfancy on youtube...
Anyway, I've just got my first Spyderco blade, a Persistence (which btw is a great blade)... I live on an island in the Eastern Caribbean, and such was wondering if any of you have any advice on blade care in such a high sea-air environment.
Have no intention to go swimming/diving with my Persistence (but in hindsight should have opted for one of the H1 variations); notwithstanding would appreciate any advice on caring and maintaining my Spyderco.
Thanks...

I live near the ocean as well. I keep the blade oiled (it is porous). Check gun cleaning supplies, many work great on knives. I make sure to clean it often. Seeing as the salt is in the air, I would recommend storing it in a drawer or somewhere less susceptible to the environment while it is not in use. I have never had a problem with a blade rusting, same goes with guns I own. Maintenance is key. Treat it with care and it will not fail you. Often times, people run into problems because they were too lazy to take proper care of it, then complain when it does not work to their standards.
Welcome
Welcome blk ronin.
I've never had a corrosion problem with any of my vg-10 knives even if they've been in a salt air environment for a week or 2. I did look at them everyday to check though.
I think the Persistence is 18Cr13Mo?? Not sure from memory. I would think it's corrosion resistance would be pretty good.
Now for that environment I would have to have this :D
