Why does that pic bring the line "It started out as a bad joke in Kansas City homicide" to mind.
Acutally, it's an Endura II. But to answer your question, assuming there's not an extreme amount of blade play and the right side looks as good as the left, then you got a very decent buy. Blade steel was upgraded from AUS-6 on the Endura 2, which was at the lower end of the steels Spyderco has used to VG-10, which is held in considerably higher regard, on the Endura 4.

You did good. Don't be afraid of the AUS-6 being a "lesser" steel. I went from a S30V Millie to the EII out of pure preference, mostly the tip up carry. I could tell a mild difference in edge holding, but I could get the AUS-6 screaming sharp with little effort whereas it took a whole lot more to get the S30V there and once it lost it it was gone. IME, AUS-6 likes field stropping much more than S30V which I found much more handy.

Totally agree, I only mentioned it as it does tend to keep prices for used Delica II's and Endura II's relatively low. AUS-6 takes an excellent edge and holds it well enough to satisfy all but a few people. On the plus side, there are those who prefer the acute tips of the E2 and D2 to the more rounded tips on the newer versions.Simple Man wrote:You did good.
