Jack or Jim?

#1

Post by Bushbadger »

After years of being a "connoisseur" of Jack Daniels I've recently taken a liking to Jim Beam. So my question to my fellow Spyderholics *hic!* is which do you prefer?

Strictly between the those two options I pick Jack Daniels.

Given a choice I prefer Irish and Scot whiskeys.

I don't drink anymore but when i did i had a taste for Segrams 7 for some odd reason. Never much cared for Jack or Jim. I also had a bad habit of doing Bacardi 151 shots.

Buffalo Trace. Best bourbon you can get under $40 a bottle.

Wild Turkey has always been a favourite of mine. I just have to "respect" it. Strong stuff...

Actually anyone reading this feel free to recommend some whiskys. I'm an Englishman living in the States so maybe there are many I've probably never even heard of.

Buffalo Trace is one of the few bourbons I regularly drink with just ice, and I think anyone who wants to try out a better bourbon but doesnt want to drop 50 or 60 bucks. I can get a bottle of buffalo trace for I think $28 around here

Now Jim Beam black is a nice mixer with some sprite on a hot day.

I'm allergic to both.

Bourbon makes me break out in handcuffs.

Seriously. Love 'em both. Love it all. Haven't had a sip of alcohol since '96.

I'm a Bushmill's or Jameson man usually... but given that choice, Jack all the way.

I lean towards bourbons for the most part, so between the two I'll go for Jim. My "casual" drink tends to be Maker's Mark on ice. I did "stumble" upon Basil Hayden Bourbon while at one of the more "upscale" places in Kalispell, MT last month. Good stuff.

I'll have to look into the Buffalo Trace stuff.

@Bushbadger, have you tried Pendleton Whisky, yet? Not bad, at least to my unrefined palate.

I like all the bourbons I've tried. I'm also quite fond of a quality spiced rum, namely Sailor Jerry.

I'm definitely a proper bourbon man, so between those two I'd go with Jim. Also prefer Irish and Scotch Whiskeys though.

I'm a single malt scotch drinker myself... though I'll drink rye or bourbon if I can't find scotch. Have a bottle of Maker's Mark (red wax) on the shelf waiting for me to get a new job before it gets cracked. And an 18yr Glenfiddich waiting to celebrate a new city along with that new job.

To any lovers of single malt scotch I recommend Oban if you can find it. Bulleit as was mentioned is a nice bourbon, not tried Makers Mark yet.

14yr oban is very smooth, haven't tried any other oban though.
