Spyderco kit knife

#1

Post by Jazz »

I would love it if Spyderco would offer, say, a Delica kit knife - all the parts with full liners like the Foliage green one with instructions on how to assemble it. Maybe a couple of handle choices, or we could make our own, if desired. That way we could go nuts and customize it with filework and whatnot. I know there are some modders out there who would like this. Am I right? I was going to customize my Foliage green one with filework, etc. but wrecked a screw on the outside because it won't budge, so now I'm not. :( I still like it how it is but I like my idea. What do you say, people? :)

- best wishes, Jazz.

I think it would be tough for the warranty dept when ppl start messing with components.

Although I would purchase at least 1 :)

Delica and Endura are great knives! They're the low priced crack samples that'll get you hooked on spyderco! Feed the need!

maybe a bushcraft blank or mule team, with 2 slabs of wood and 2 corby rivets?!
those kinds of kits are fun and rewarding!

This sounds very interesting. I've always thought how nice the many different scale combinations are for the Kiwis and Kopas, but the problem is you usually have to buy an entirely new knife to get new scales. It would be nice to have something similar in which you could replace the scales/liners/blade steel yourself instead of sending it in.

I think Spyderco already offer Delica replacement parts but they don't have the lock-bar or the blade as part of the kit. I know here someone wanted to mod their Delica to a slip-joint but they wanted to buy a replacement lock-bar to make sure that they could revert to locking any time they wanted. So, yeah it would be really good if they sold complete Delica kits or at least all the parts :)
My spydies: Squeak, Tenacious, Terzuola, D'Allara, UKPK CF peel-ply pre-production, UKPK CF smooth pre-production, UKPK G10 orange leaf-blade, UKPK FRN grey drop-point, UKPK FRN maroon leaf-blade, Bug ... all PE blades :)
