I just recently got myself a machete (18"<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> for yard work, but in my opinion it needs a sharper edge. I was wondering if any of you out there could give me some sharpening tips with the 204. I've had mine for about a month now, but have only used it on knives up to 7".
Any input is appreciated.

Wow! That's a looong machete dude! I use the medium grit on my machetes free-hand. They give an excellent edge, but you'll need a bit of pracitising to get it right! <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I've placed the 204 base upside down in a vise, wrapped with a cloth of course. Then place the two medium stones in the slots on the bottom of the base.
A bit easier, for me at least, to maintain a consistent angle. Plus, with both stones, you'll have a bit more stability for that angle.
It's amazing what that little 204 can do. Sal and company sure provided enough flexibility in that product.
