Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

The blade is marked:

TAICHUNG
TAIWAN

Not sure if that is the same Facility as the Sage2...

cheers!

If they do make it in the same factory then :D , because the Sages are top notch. The Perrin is one of the ones I'm watching. :)

This is the first knife of any make that I've seen in years that just 'popped'. If it isn't too pricey and I can handle it first, it might be the only non-lockback Spydie I will have bought in a long time.

It feels really solid, and the action is very Sage2-like. Should be a piece of cake to sharpen, and it even comes with a small lanyard...blade length is right at Sage2 size but the shape makes the edge look a touch longer.

Sorry no pics, Crappy lighting here at work and only Iphone camera.

All the Sages and others identified as from the same factory that I've seen do not have "TAICHUNG" on them. I had assumed it was the same factory because it's a high end knife, but based on the inscription it may well be a separate factory.

110% +1 agreement. This "popped" for me also. I really like the modified framelock and cool scales. Im in for first purchase. Already told my main seller to put me on pre-sale list!

Thanks for those pics Jason! Dang, I like that knife. 5.3oz seems kind of heavy for EDC though. I will probably still get one :)

Ooh, this was on my 2010 spyderco list. Good to see it came out so soon after I found out about it. I'm gonna have to wait on it though, just bought two new spydies hehe

Nice score Jason. Is the clip good for southpaw and can it be opened easily left handed?

Yikes, at 5.3oz it is a lunker. I really liked this as soon as I saw wooter's photos, but that's a bit heavy for my taste. Bummer for me.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

does anyone know if the taiwan knives are assembled there with U.S. materials, like the blade?
I thought I read somewhere they do but need to stamp it made in taiwan because thats where there put together.
I'm one of those keeping my distance from taiwan knives but all the positive feedback on some Spydies makes me willing to give them a try.

I really like the direction that Spyderco is going with the scalloped G-10 like handles. Reminds me of some of Jens Anso's work.

I hear you guys on the beef aspect. I love my Street Beat and another Perrin design really has me fired up, but 5.3 oz is pretty ridiculous for a 3-1/4" blade that's 1/8" thick. The P'kal is made of similar materials of a similar size and only weighs in at 3.6 oz.

I'll have to have one in my hand to determine if this brick is worth switching my EDC for...

Angus,
Not sure, haven't tried opening lefty yet. I'll give it the old college try in the AM and let you know. I do know that although the literature states left or right handed clip, the scale is relieved for right hand clip installation and there is no corresponding relief on the opposite side. It might still be possible to install the clip the other way, maybe.

Possibly the 'powers that be' can shed some light on the clip reversal...
