Foliage Green Manix 2 vs Blue
Foliage Green Manix 2 vs Blue
Which of these is more sought after and why? To me it seems that more people like the blue Manix is s30v. I wonder why that is. S30v is in a ton of knives but not the CTS-XHP. Is it the color or because the blue came first and offered a ffg with a better steel?

I agree, it is just a numbers issue.JNewell wrote:It may be just numbers? IIRC, there were only 500 of the blue sprint, compared to 1000 of the foliage green sprint.
I think blue is (oddly, IMO, but who cares about that, other than me?) more popular than foliage green. Personally, foliage green is probably my favorite color G10...
Well it is available other places but in very limited quantities. For example, Rick Hinderer has used some CTS-XHP on some XM-18s and some others have used it too I think. But it is rare and exotic and supposedly a great performer. I just bought one off the forums last night. I was reading up on it and had that impulse. After searching a little but I was lucky enough to find one for a very reasonable price NIB. I've always wanted a Manix 2 but it just took a backseat to my other purchases. I was waiting to hear some feedback on CTS-XHP before I committed. At the same time I saw a blue M2 going for $200. I didn't pay near that for the foliage green, that's what made me just to wonder.defenestrate wrote:The color may be more popular, but the steel is what makes me want the FG M2.... I already have an M2 in CPM 154CM and it's great. S30v would be great, but CTS-XHP? the chance to own a steel that isn't available anywhere else...? THAT is what draws me in..

Once the supply channel for the foliage green XHP has definitively closed, I think you will see prices pop quickly. Whether it will reach/maintain the current price for the blue sprint is an open question. Blue seems to be a very cult-y color and some people really have to have it. Foliage green has almost always been a sleeper - look at what happened to the Para in CPM-D2 with foliage green scales. Go figger. :confused:Reeper22 wrote:Well it is available other places but in very limited quantities. Prices on e-bay for the blue Manix have been trending at about $200-ish right now. The green has been drawing about $140 to $150.
I would think that prices for the green would be lower for awhile, as there is another shipment pending to stores, if I have heard correctly.
The 500 for the blue Manix went so quickly that some people didn't even know that they were for sale by the time they were sold out. The scarcity is the driving force behind the price (and perhaps the scale color for a few folks).
I wonder what pricing would be if both green and blue were made in a 500 count run? I would guess that the green would bring a higher price due to the exotic steel being used.

I have both but I would say it is primarily a rarity by number issue. With only 500 Blue and I believe 1000 Green being made.
I like blue better, but the CTS in the green is really an awesome steel thus far.
That being said the amount of knives made with blue g10 is far less than the foliage green.
just my .02

YES! and makes it far more interesting and exciting to collect! I love small production run pieces.mikerestivo wrote:Prices on e-bay for the blue Manix have been trending at about $200-ish right now. The green has been drawing about $140 to $150.

Here's another wrinkle on the sprints. The S90V sprint was only 400, so lower than either the S30V or the XHP. A quick look at completed eBay auctions shows two recent sales, one @ $299 and the other at $256. Those prices actually amaze me, but those are actual completed sales, not "asking" prices.

I did indeed, and glad I did. Even CK is only looking for $270, which (interestingly) is more or less the midpoint of the two sales I found on eBay.rycen wrote:You may have missed the cf manix that sold for 350+
On the other hand, last time I checked, the S90V Military was going for around $300, so I guess these numbers shouldn't surprise me.

Bingo. If it's rare, it must be exceptionally desirable!JNewell wrote:It may be just numbers? IIRC, there were only 500 of the blue sprint, compared to 1000 of the foliage green sprint.
