What knives other than Spydies do you carry?

Post by K man »

I carry a Chris Reeve small Sebenza almost every day as an EDC. The fully serrated VG-10 Endura only comes out for really hard work.

What knives other than a Spyderco do you carry?

My Spyderco EDC is PE Endura lwt. I used to also carry SAK Victorinox Rucsack, but now Leatherman Wave (if you can categorise the same, as it has knives too...)

A couple of small keyring SAKS, a SAK Cybertool, a SAK money clip and a Kershaw Chive. Not all of them all the time

Stanley small "utility" knife. Small, lightweight, cheap ($2.50-$3.00), locking blade, sharp, can be taken apart for cleaning, three different blade styles, packs of replacement blades are inexpensive also. If you lose it, break it, so what, replace it. If you break a blade, so what, replace it. I've never broken a blade or a knife. When it gets dull, so what, replace the blade. I bought one for $1.99 at Big Lots one day. The next day I went back and bought every one they had, they only had three. I use mine everyday.

Seeing as how my Native or Endura would be frowned upon at University, I have quite a few non- EDCs that I carry.

Going through the list (7): Case Doctor's knife, vintage bone. Case Russlock, Old Red. Case 2-blade wharncliffe copperhead, blue. Case Copperhead, blue. Case medium stockman, red. Old Timer Stockman and Old Timer Trapper.

Any one of the above could be in my pocket on any given school day.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Here's the Rotation:

CRKT Kiss -- (always, moneyclip)
BM Pardue auto -- (off duty every now and then)
Civilian -- (on duty, always)
CRKT Bear Claw -- (on duty, always)
Smith & Wesson Carbon Fiber -- (most of the time. It's my do it all knife carried it for 4 years now)

Cold Steel CAT tanto -- (this lives in my boot, it's always at home) This is the plastic one that doesn't set off the metal dectors

On any typical day I carry 4 or 5 knives. I do this because I never know from day to day what type of situation I'll be in, and I want to be prepared if a fight breaks out and I loose my Glock or it's too dangerous to get it out of the holster.

Well, I used to use a Umfaan and a Seb (traded...), but right now the only non spydie knives I carry are an Ennis Defender, a BM 970 BTS, a Douk Douk, and a BM 905. This summer it will be either a Small Classic or a Dozier Tab Stop I may be forgettting some though.

In addition to my s I frequently carry...
CRKT Bearclaw (plain and pointed)
CRKT Danali (50/50)
CRKT Mirage (plain)
I like the quality of the CRKT mechanisms, but wish they would upgrade their steel selections. If only they had "holes"...

Raden - Wow, that a lot of knives you're carrying...

Al - What do you think of Leath. Wave as part of your EDC? For me, it's indispensible, though the knives could be better... But then, that's why I carry Spydercos...;-)

EDCs are Spydies, but I sometimes carry a Kershaw, Ken Onion "Chive", but only for when customers are cruising around our office, or I'm presenting data and a Spydie clipit would draw curiosity in front of acrowd. Such is the life of a marketing guy.

well. Gary i'm glad to hear of another CRKT fan. Lately my EDC knives are as follows.RF pocket,PARAGON xo lite.(love the ats 34 steel and the black Ti finish.LF green LUM chinese folder SE even tho im a righty and this is built for RH carry its amazing how fast i can open it with my left hand. LR pocket delica LWT or depending on my mood NATIVE JR in GIN-1 steel. When i dont wanna chance scuffing my LUM i replace it with A CRKT apache PE in ATS-34. I'm from the south so every man carries atleast 2 knives even to church :-) we dont have that many sheeple to worry with down here. If im out on the town in dressy casual wear or going where some might find that many knives a threat i wear a stiff kiss on a ankle rig i hand made especially for me and a peck around my neck.still carry the benchmade autos(legal here) IWB. and DELICA dropped in my pocket. A fella can neva have too many knives and flashing the LUM around has discouraged quiet a few thugs late at night. In short its hard to beat any spyderco, but i have a huge collection of many high end folders and feel i must let em see light from time to time. cya Ron
