thanks for making this thread, it does deserve its own thread.
im hearing it might be going for around 500 bucks, seems kinda high but who knows till it hits the public.
im wondering what it comes with, couldnt imagine a knife so high priced coming in a regular red, black gold Spyderco box.
also since the blue jigged bone was made for the 25th anniversary Delica and they never used it, maybe they are only going to make 500 of these too?
either way im stoked, hope to get one! i will actually sell some Spydies for this one if i have to.

you dont think its a little too much one one knife? and does anyone know what that missing piece cut out is for? maybe like a finger groove
im sure, as its spys number one, it will come with some cool box and paperwork signed by sal and co. numbered and engraved or something. i doubt a knife like that will go in a normal box too. if its not too crazy of a price i may get one just to join in feeling that "prosperity" feeling of 25 years of delica! and if it comes in some plush wooden box... NICE :D
as long as there is no giant hole on the top of the box

i don't think I will be able to afford an knife at $500, regardless the brand. hmmm......
VG-10 damascus blade for 500 is just too much.

Great, that $500 price was just thrown around in another thread.
Thanks for posting the real number Tom.
I would have thought the production number would have something to do with the number of scales they had / didn't use from the 25th model.
500 seems like quite a few.......... As its defiantly not for everyone.

Is that Spyderco's MSRP? If so, it will be cheaper than that correct? What a beautiful knife.

Yes, correct.

Just too much going on there for me. The jigged liners and the weird groove on the blued bolsters are overkill if you ask me. It also seems to be suffering from a case of fasteneritis- to many screws/pins. The beautiful Damascus blade should be the focal point, not the handle IMO.

They should talk to Mcusta on how to offer Damascus blade at a cheaper price point. Granted the materials are different but I've had very good experience with the damascus they use. I bet the Damascus isn't the only thing making it expensive. That bolster and jigged bone probably adds to the price too. If this was in the sub $200 range I might just sell off a few of my spydies for one but At MSRP there's no way that'll ever happen. I bet it has a lot of collectibility but I'm guessing that's what these are aimed at... collectors.

I'd agree on all points except the last. To me, the Damascus is not particularly attractive either. Reminds me of the Damascus Boker uses on its low end Magnum "Royal" series of lockbacks (King, Lord, Lady).

This will be my 1st rust resistant Damascus blade!
Anyone out there try VG-10 Damascus yet?
Sounds good to me!
Agree, it is a bit Busy for a Spyderco. But nothing like some Co.'s put out. (You know who I am talking about)
To me, this it still a very classy knife.
Who knows, it might be much nicer in person.
Will let you know! :D

Mcusta has been making VG-10 Damascus blade for years, relatively low price and excellent quality

Right, I have just never used it.
So, you like it OK? About the same as regular VG-10?

Just checked, their Limited Series are priced the same or higher..

There will be some cheaper :spyder: damuscus knives.
They will probably show up in the Proto thread soon.
Normal pruduction handles with a damascus blade.

That's interesting. The Delica looks like a VG-10 core clad with damascus. I am curious to see which models they use it on. I think it would look nice on the G-10 Dragonfly.
Must be about time for the damascus Mule as well.
