Since Michael Janich is a local now it's great to see that some of his designs are being looked into once again (and some for the first time).

Has there been any talk for a non-scaled Ronin Lightweight? I'd take the piece of steel and cord wrap it then get someone to do an aftermarket Kydex if need be. Similar to the Swick.

I think in the neck knife market it would really stand-out. I can't imagine for around $50-75 people wouldn't line up to buy them even without a sheath.

The steel doesn't matter for me. The blade shape does. The Swick is a great knife but is not the same IMHO.

3-3.5" blade, non-utilitarian modified wharncliffe, lightweight, canted towards corrosion resistance...I'll take a couple =)

Edit: I'm thinkin just a Ronin but w/o the scales. Not a Perrin hole re-design. I'm definitely not opposed to that though.

I like the sound of that, but I would want it to come with a sheath.

wasn't the swick pretty much ronin like? i would buy one since i missed out on the swick. for steel go with H1 so there wont be any worries about rust.

The spine angle is quite different with the Ronin/Yo it pushes the cutting edge down during penetration like a ramp. The Swick wouldn't be as aggressive. The Swick is also 2.125" vs 3" on the Ronin.

Again, not a big deal from a task perspective but I'd rather use the more robust tip on the Swick for chores and the Ronin for softer materials.

I just picked up the orignal ronin and i wouldn't mind if they came out with a necker that would be cheap. I'd probably buy two or three and grind one down as a trainer.

+1 on a Ronin Necker!!!! ESPECIALLY in H1 :D That would be cool! I would also like for a kydex sheath to be included but I wouoldn't mind making paracord handles or something for it.

I would be in for this idea, but make it smaller, lil smaller than original Ronin.. Skeletonized one piece of steel. S30V for me, stonewashed as Swick. Sheath could be definitely aftermarket, that would kill the price down. I think a lot of people would be happy.

I'm all for a Ronin anything, although I'd prefer it to remain the original size.

I think a Ronin necker is a good idea...

I think I'd prefer to see a mini-Street Beat type necker myself like the Fred Perrin Neck Bowie.

Yes I would like a 3" blade just like the original. A 3.5" blade wouldn't be turned away though.

I like the smaller neckers but with exception of a select few (KA-BAR LDK), I wouldn't want to use them for anything but utility chores. I could feel decent hiking with a Ronin necker if stumbling upon a small pissed off animal.

Personally, fixed blades have a very niche spot in my life. They are illegal to carry and I don't take kindly to felonies on my record. For situations where you might need them like hiking through zombie country I want a serious slicer. Based on Doc's findings, it's hard to beat the design (funny looking or not).

Funny looking I can deal with. But if I'm going to wear it under my shirt, it has to be H1.

I would be interested to see if the Ronin was built in the same place that they do most the H1 jobs.

It would almost seem too convenient. Call it "fate"?
