First 2 spyders...help I've been bitten!

#1

Post by mnaylo3 »

Well it's official, I have the :spyder: . My uncle introduced me to Spyderco about 10 years ago when I was 12. I've wanted one ever since, just haven't been able to part with the cash. I've carried a kershaw leek for a while now and just got tired of the ao feature and was always worried about breaking the super thin blade. I asked my girlfriend to get me a spyder for valentines day and I was surprised to receive a mini-persian...it's even more stunning in person! So much so that I didn't have the heart to screw it up using it for work every day. A stretch frn was on it's way before I went to bed that night :) . I've been edc'ing it for a week now (when the mini-persian isn't seeing "gentleman" duty) and it's proven to be extremely useful...and sharp  . Just thought I'd share the creation of another spyderhead.

You're girlfriend gave you a mini persian and you haven't made her a fiance yet? Sounds like keepers all the way around--girl and the knives.

Usually, when somebody after two :spyder: feel bitten, I advice to run, because they still can. Not in your case. You got Ed Schempp's Persian, there is no way out for you. Welcome to addiction.

It only gets better now or worse just depends how you see it. There is no help the venom runs through your veins now infecting you like a ravenous beast. Everything you once held dear will be torn asunder and your world flipped upside down. Webs will entangle you and theres only one way to escape. Buy more knives to cut yourself free of the webbing. Only spyderco knives will free you from this dark dismal place and bring you happiness for brief moments. Forgot to mention GREAT starter spydies. The manix is a great knife too.

You got your start with two great Spydies! The Persian and Mini-Persian are the only Spyderco knives I would call beautiful, such a great design. Don't be afraid to use the Persian, a few scratches on the bolsters will only add personality.

Welcome to the forum and to Spyderco ownership!

I think the next knife you should buy is a SE Cricket for your girlfriend, buy it from the SFO over the phone and have them engrave it with her initials on the handle.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. As to the GF, she's pretty great. To Chapman, she already received a purple (dyed) delica CE which she either carries in her purse or clipped in her pocket, but the engraved cricket is an excellent idea. And to Tony, sharpmaker, hawkbill ladybug, and manix 2 are at the top of the list

If you love gents knives and bolsters I would strongly suggest to move Kopa up.
It is discontinued and couple of them still available at ridiculous prices.

my only advice to you is to hide your money from yourself. Otherwise you will watch your life savings start to dissipate. hahaha Welcome aboard the addiction.
