I heard the blade was 4", or close to it. Can anyone confirm this, and give your impressions?

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

I hope its true! Would buy several.

off topic......
MT was going to make version of the Jonny Liao
Whale shark. 7 yrs ago...
But like so many things, it never materialized.

This one sounds similar....
Cant wait!

Sal, how about a Jonny Liao colab?
thoughts?

I held it-don't recall too much, as I was already so spyder-saturated.

I do remember holding it and thinking, "****, this feels pretty good." It felt like an elegant tactical knife, if that makes sense.

Hope that helps.

I like the idea of a folder but I just recently looked at a photo of the old Bob Lum fixed blade tanto again. What a perfect knife! Why on earth was it ever discontinued?
I know everyone likes what they like, but I look at the long list of sub 3" folders Spyderco makes, and I ask myself; why all those and so few ,comparatively, larger knives?
In any case I'm looking forward to the new Szabo knife. I remember looking at his stuff in Tactical Knife magazine a few years ago and yearning for it.

Okay, so now that the thread has been bombarded with pics that have NOTHING to do with a larger Lum Chinese folder, can we get some news on the larger Lum Chinese folder? Thanks much.

Awesome way to ruin this thread.

Has nothing to do with the LUM. Man start a new thread.

I really look forward to that large Lum, I just hope it is not just bigger, but also a bit thicker than the regular Lum Chinese. And I would like it to have the trademark dimple on the scales, not sure that is economically feasible with CF, though...

1min 24 sec. There is a knife that looks like it has a Bob Lum symbol on it. While it looks like it as an axis lock on it, I wonder if Spyderco's design will look anything like this.

Good to here. It looked a little too dinosaurish for me. I am hoping for something with long smooth lines like an elongated Chinese or something.

The 740 was sort of OK, but the 741 is a caricature of a Lum.

Its based on the Lum Forrester rather than the Chinese.
That's why I don't think it will look similar......

With all of the runs of the Chinese lately it would be nice to see the Tanto folder again. But like I said an elongated Chinese would be good to. I am looking forward to getting my first Bob Lum knife. I wasn't around for the Tanto, and the Chinese was a little too small for my taste. This new knife seems right up my alley.

Sal has stated that another Lum tanto run is not out of the question but that it would not be a wise business move while the "other" company has a similar knife in production. I am hoping to get one at some point too, they were before my time! :D
