My Dear Friends,

Well, it happened again, as I suspected it eventually would.

Over the course of the past year or so I have been carrying a wide variety of fixed and folding knives, production and custom, trying out new things and just generally seeing what is out there in the cutlery world.

For several years prior to that I carried Spyderco Knives almost exclusively. Certainly an occasional odd knife from a different manufacturer would find its way into my rotation, but 99% of the time I relied on Spyderco.

I am finding myself full circle once more.

Sure, I keep several CKE Knives on hand - Craig is an amazing craftsman and dear friend. I have a few other knives obtained years before I discovered Spyderco that I keep around for purely sentimental reasons. I have a few knives filling niches Spyderco currently does not (Swiss Army, etc.).

Today I am carrying a stainless Spyderco Cricket PE in my jeans watch pocket, a Spyderco P'Kal at the front edge of my strong side pocket (along with a Spyderco S30V Paramilitary at the rear edge), a Spyderco Fred Perrin Street Beat IWB strong side at a 45 degree cant, and an odd little evil kiridashi on my belt on my weak side at the same 45 degree cant.

Yes, I know I carry too many defense-oriented knives by most peoples' assessment (that list of toys doesn't take into account the Glock 27 IWB either :cool: ).

I am quite excited about some of the upcoming Spyderco offerings, particularly the Matriarch PE.

I plan to lurk about here a bit more often (not that I ever stopped) and keep up with things on this forum a bit better.

I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun...

Us knife folks have "seasons" when it comes to brands. We also have some foundations. We tend to come back to them.

I hadn't heard about the Matriarch PE...when is this scheduled to happen? It'll be a sprint run later this year, I assume.

You never left Doctor :) I always sense your presence when I'm here on the streets of Spyderville. You Sir are a member of the Fraternal Order Of The Hawkbill. Your membership is permanent :cool: You might have went on a brief exploration of a few different steel bins but you were here all the time :D

A PE Matriarch :cool: There are just so many knives on the "gotta have" list that there really isn't much room for competitors now is there :D ?

It's good to see you back, Hannibal. I have always enjoyed your posts and manner. I too have been traveling to other lands in 'knifedom', but as markg observed, one tends to always find their way home.

Couple you should look at if you haven't seen them go by (which I know you have, but.... ).

Manix 2 - FFG in either S90V (my current favorite, now gone but available occasionally)or S30V (tbr)

Gayle Bradley in CPM-M4. A first quality knife in every respect. Heavy and solid but really, REALLY well done.

And of course the twin H1 Spyderhawks. Nothing more need be said about them.

The Spyderhawks in H1 got my undivided attention - nothing like a large, plainedged hawkbill to incite excitement in me. :cool:

The Bradley folder is a lovely piece, but the closest I come to using a "normal" knife is the Paramilitary (possibly my single favorite Spyderco knife design that isn't purpose-driven for self-defense).

The thought of a Yojimbo Sprint Run is also very exciting...
