Pricing on Manix 2 to be released?

#1

Post by mikerestivo »

Hi folks -

Does anyone have an idea of what the price will be on the yet-to-be released Manix 2 in CTS-XHP Steel?

The model is shown in the 2010 product guide but I cannot recall having seen pricing on it.

Thanks for any help you can lend.

Very nice. Street should be what, $50ish lower than that? I may actually pass up the blue M2 for this one.
Ask me where I got my awesome SUPERHAWK!

More like Mid-Cal now

Thanks. I, too, am trying to determine which new version of the Manix 2 I will be purchasing this year.

And I wonder what the "street" price will be as well. Sounds like it might be close the the blue S30V version?

I think I'm going to the the carpenter steel one. I'm not a big fan of the blue and I already have an S30v FFG Manix.

Whoa. I'm out if the loop. What's carpenter steel? And what's M2? There are TWO manix 2 variants coming? Are either FFG?

Carpenter is a steel maker similar to Crucible (who makes Spyderco's S30V, S90V, etc.). The CTS-XHP steel they make has similar characteristics as D2, but is stainless (or pretty close).

M2= Manix 2

There are two sprint runs coming out. The CTS-XHP steel with foliage green G10 handles and a blue G10 S30V version (which has a FFG in the prototype pictures).

so dealer or "street" price from - say KC, KW, CS - would be like $120 to $140 i would say. i base this on previous ones i have priced from sfo vs dealer. we just need to look at past examples. although it is always different. sometimes we get thrown a curve ball. i got my ti mili for $188 yet the msrp is $350... explain that. how is jeff able to do that. leave $150 on the table. i dont know enough about the steel but if the same sprint blue manix is like $130 then say the foliage green sprint manix should be the same plus or minus the price of this special steel. who knows the most about that steel? is it exspensive or rare or special?

It will be more than $50 bucks off for the street price. Around 80 bucks less which you can't complain about! Can't wait to get these ones in.

Yourcornerstore already has the XHP listed for $102.58 with an expected due date of April 15th (probably way too optimistic). He is usually pretty close in price to CS, both of which are well under KC.

So, is the M2-XHP supposed to be a flat grind too? I sure hope so! AT that price I will likely get 2!

Nope, that one's hollow ground, the S90V CF and blue S30V versions are the only FFG variants I know of.

Hollow ground isn't so bad. That makes for a very strong blade. Perhaps a good working/camp knife.
