Mule Wrap, Mule Skeleton, and Concealex Sheaths....

#1

Post by Marion David Poff »

So, I recently learned how to make what I call the Double Strand Twist Wrap, so I did one of my Mules with it....

And I made a Concealex Sheath for it....

And, I also made a sheath for a Mule Skeleton...

Enjoy, and please tell me what you think...

Looks a heck of a lot better than my recent wrap. I need to take a photo of my two simple Mule wraps and post it.

The Mules and the awesome sheaths you guys make are prime equipment for LBVs.

Very clean work.

When you heat the kydex, are you doing it in the oven? And, dumb question, is the knife left in the sheath to get the shape?
Oderint Dum Metuant - Let them hate, so long as they fear.

Thank you.

Oven, yes, though there are other ways you can do it. And yes, you tape the blade, and use the knife as the form (or whatever the word is), pressing the material around it.

I like that wrap, any links to some sort of online 'how to'?
I use a simple 'Atwood wrap' on my mules, this double strand twist wrap looks just as 'simple' and slim, but with some 'panache'

Here is a thread, where I got the answer, Rick Marchand of WilderTools was kind enough to post a couple image that really made it clear what was going on...

Also, it seems there might be another way, but I have yet to see it...
