The Lum Chinese folder has an eccentric pivot pin. What is this, why is it good to have, and why can it only be adjusted by the factory?

The eccentric pivot pin allows for adjustment of the linerlock's wear. Once it has worn all the way to the right side and developed "play," they can re-tighten the lock and have it start fresh on the left side of the tang again "as new."

It can/should only be adjusted by the factory because only the factory has the special tool used to adjust the pin.

Thanks Carlos,

I've always kind of wondered about this myself.

Here's a good explanation of how to do it yourself (which will probably void the warranty):
