Delica 4 in G10 Questions?

#1

Post by byoo79 »

I'm thinking about picking up another Delica 4 G10 and I have a couple questions, that if anyone could answer, would be greatly appreciated!

1. The delica 4 in g10 ONLY came in foliage green correct? If it came in black, I'd rather purchase it in black.

2. Is this a discontinued model?

3. Delica 4 G10 ONLY comes in FFG correct?

4. Has Sal or any of the spyderco gang hinted of any future delicas in g10 with different blade steels, grounds, or colored g10 handles?

Thanks guys! Truly a great place for spyderco knowledge!

Hi byoo79,

1. G10 in FG colour only (thus far ;) :p )
2. Not disco'd as far as I know ?
3. This is the only D4 that comes with a FFG blade out of the factory.
4. Not as far as I know. I am certain that they won't be far away though. I know I'd grab a few if the colours go to other shades :D - don't mind the steel at VG10 - although H1 FFG would be !!!!!! :D
Cheers

FWIW, some folks have had good results using black RIT powedered fabric dye on various colors of FRN and G-10 handles.

Happy day when I picked up a spare Deli4 G10. It is a terrific knife. I love the slim blade/lockback combo, and it is a very elegant looking thing too :)

I would buy another one and RIT dye it black as one man here did it to his foliage green g10 dragonfly and it came out very nice.

The 2008 G10 has a Flat saber-ground blade, and the 2009 G10 has a Full flat grind.

what is the procedure on using the RIT dye to get the G-10 handle black? I was thinking of getting the dragonfly and delica in G-10 but I like my handles in black.

1.) Yes. As mentioned you can dye it. Some have done this to the Foliage Green Dragonfly with no hint of fade.

2.) Endura G10 is, not Delica G10 at the moment.

3.) I thought just FFG but not sure.

4.) They are looking to rehash the FRN Delica/Endura's with flat ground blades and different FRN colors. I would assume VG10 in the future for the G10 Delica but not sure if it's been popular enough for ZDP189. As it's a Seki born model, it's safe to assume it won't see S30/S90v ever unless they ship it over or decide to have them made in-states. The Native may be a different matter altogether. :D They have plans for it in the near future.
