First Experience with Byrd Knives

I got my first Byrd knives today. I got 4 of them from an online retailer for a good deal. I got a black SS Meadowlark PE, a bk blade FRN Raven PE, a SS Finch and a bk blade FRN starling. My initial impressions of the Meadowlark, Raven and Finch are that they are good knives for the money, but I can definitely tell a difference between them and my Spyderco knives. The Starling on the other hand seems like a cheap made in China knife. There is a ton of blade play and it just feels really cheap. Compared to my Ladybug, it is like night and day. I might try to tighten the pivot rivet some but I don't want to damage it.

That's anodized aluminum scales on the Raven.
One of the cool things about the Byrds is that the ones I have can be completely disassembled with torx screws. So for around $10 you can buy a good quality folder to use in a custom scale project.

I got one of those Starlings about a week ago and it has a ton of side to side blade play...I tried a brass punch but didn't do anything.

My Starlings don't have much blade play at all. That's what the Byrd line is, cheaper.

The only Byrd knives that I didn't really care for was the Raven and Catbyrd. On the other hand my SS Flight, SS Pelican, and wings I have really been stoked about.I want to get a Wings slip it in the near future. :D

Good call on the aluminum scales.
Like I said before, I think the Meadowlark, Raven and Finch were all a great value. I was just disappointed with the Starling. If it had been the only Byrd knife that I bought, it probably would have been my last.
