at request folder work

Post by butch »

the first post hoever has to be of the 3 folders i have made for myself over the last 5 years they are the only 3 with spyderco round holes that i have made and they will never leave me

from bottom my first folder attempt and i guess it not too bad and i think its now near 5 years old and i keep in together and not in the trash to make me remember how i got started and how far i have come
blade is 440c that i had a tool and die shop heat treat the pivot was from my 2 ever spyderco (millie) that was trashed
Ti slab handles

next my butch boz opener
this time i picked up real folder hardware
black canvas spacer Ti liners .080 thick and G10 scales
the blade was to be cpm3v but in heat treat i messed that one up
next blade was made of cpm154 and its 3/16 thick
the trickiest part of the folder not counting the lock up (walk and talk) was teh way the bevel is ground on the blade in a sweeping up angle while keeping an even thickness on the edge

and my latest that i finished now just over a year ago (2 days before the flight to blade )and i still carry today
ti frame lock with over scale on one side (boxelder burl) and Ti bolsters Ti clip
the blade is cpms125v that Phil Wilson sent me after claiming "i fear no steel". i still dont fear steel but i sure do have a new respect the helll out of some of them

i will work on updatign with more pictures of my other folder work as i find them on my drives and upload to my site

That latest looks sweet. Nicely done on it.

As the proud owner of the #3 Harner folder I'll try to get a couple of pictures up tonight.
Been packing at least two Spyderco knives a day since 1984

Very nicely done, Butch! The top one is very, very nice. Throw some G-10 or Micarta on the next one, and I may have to air out my keyboard, too. :D
