Just pre-ordered my Ti Millie

#1

Post by LorenzoL »

I just finished pre-ordering the upcoming Ti-Millie that is due in 2010. The price was actually much less than what many had speculated about in this very forum (even Sal was wrong about the "street price"): 160$ :D
Luckily I also have a Sage Ti on the way to keep me company until the frame-lock Millie arrives... Oh, and the new Lum Chinese will ship on Monday!
Did I mention I was extremely happy?

I hope you are correct about $160 for Ti Milly, but I am little skeptical.

Apparently the picture is one of a prototype, there will be no serrations on the production model.

Interesting....

A USA-made ti-handled frame lock with a 4" S30V steel blade that has a price point almost identical to the Taiwanese-made Sage II that has a smaller blade??????

Anyone care to explain?

Well, there is a 30$ difference in the MSRP, plus probably retailer margins on pre-orders may be different. I asked Jeff about it, thinking it was a typo, but he confirmed the price listed on his site. I can take some positive news like this from time to time...

Thanks for posting this link. I have never been to this shop before and it will ultimately cost me more money now, but save me money in purchase prices.

I have a few of them on pre-order and from what my dealer told me there is going to be a Ti handled liner lock version and thats what is being listed for pre-order right now. I believe the Ti military that Sal mentioned msrp on is the framelock version thats still a concept model. I could be wrong but thats what I understood. Still its a fair price and both use similar materials, not sure which would require more time in the cutting/milling process. The link posted states its a framelock so who knows. :D

Just thinking... I should probably wait on getting it through them until we know what's happening with the latest attempt at making shipping them illegal goes under.

Rather pay a few bucks more and get it through a forum member who can strip it down if need be. ;)

For a second you scared me there: I did not see you were in Canada. I thought to myself, "does he really think these knives will end up being banned in the U.S.?"

They opened my last 2 shipments at customs... the s90v mule and my custom tanto fixed blade.

If they're already hitting that point now, IF this law goes in they'll really be looking. I'd rather get a box of parts and spend 5min assembling it than have them take it at customs. And 2010 gives em lots of time to keep trying till they get it to go through.

The picture is of a framelock.

Also, and all Ti liner lock, sounds... well... Odd.

And, in reality, a RIL Military would be cheaper to make than a Ti handled nested liner lock... Or at least it seems it would be.

Now that is has a titanium handle, there is really no reason at all for there to be only tip down carry for it. That is why I've never bought one and probably won't buy one. I've got two of my last three knives opened up by customs. They opened two fixed blades and the one they let through was my Kershaw OD-1 flipper :)
