Matriarch in H-1 ?

#1

Post by anson argyris »

Now, that the Spyderhawk is coming back with a H-1-blade, what about a
Matriarch in H-1 ?
Both knives had the same (Endura-3) handle .

I would definitely be in for any Matriarch reissue. An outstanding knife.

There really wouldn't be any point to making a Matriarch with H-1 steel. It was not designed as a general purpose knife and was intended to facilitate a hasty "hack-n-slash" exit for undercover LEOs. Therefore, the blade will hopefully see very little use. No use = no sharpening, so the work hardend aspect of H-1 that people love so much would never be a factor.

Even if the LEO were undercover in a coastal area or on a boat, I doubt a Matriarch with a "regular" steel would ever rust enough to render the knife unusable for its intended purpose.

Besides, if someone attacked me and I ended up using a defensive knife, I'd like to give them tetanus if they live.

do I sense talk of matri-duty hawk?

Ah yes, typical hawkbill users. As soon as one is announced, right back to begging for another one :p Not that I can talk really ;) The new matriarch was what I supported instead of the Spyderhawk for quite awhile. I'm not saying that the Spyderhawk is a bad idea, but I thought that we hadn't had a new reverse s blade in quite a long time whereas we had just gotten the superhawk. If you want to find out more about it, check on the almighty shrine of hawkbill threads, JD's now's the time for a new hawkbill. That's where most of the talk of the matriarch and spyderhawk started. Naturally I am all for a reverse s blade that's bigger than the cricket, and able to be used as an EDC blade unlike the Civilian.
