Would someone give me some back story about my Probe I got so long ago? Where does it fit in Spyderco's history?

is that a divers probe in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?! :D Man, I couldn't imagine having that attached to my keys.

You have got the probe (2002).
The mini probe (2003) is smaller (that's why "mini") and has a measuring scale of 5 inch/110 cm.
Another small difference is the opening in the top of the blade for cutting fishing lines without opening the knife.

So, after reading this thread, if I am understanding this correctly there were actually four Probes? One in 1998, 1990, 2002 and 2003? :confused:

No, the 2002 and 2003 mentioned are SKU numbers. Before Spyderco started using its current system their knives had 4 digit numbers. The C01 Worker, for example, was originally called the 1001 Clipit Worker and the C02 Mariner was originally called the 1002 Clipit Mariner. The Pre-Diver, Dive Probe, and Mini-Probe were given 2000 series numbers (2001, 2002, and 2003, respectively), whhile the Spyderkeys and MiniMariner 3000 series numbers. According to Spyderco's Across the Years timeline, Pre-Diver and Probe were released in '88 and the Mini-Probe in '90.

I have a 1988 Probe, serial #0016, which I would like to sell. What's the scoop on selling on eBay? It's an early Probe (I'm told only 600 of this run were made) and is in good shape, but obviously has been used. My late brother was an avid diver and used it. There's no corrosion, and the blade is tight and sharp, but some spots, etc. Is there a way to determine a decent price for it? His wife doesn't know the field, and neither do I. By the way, what's a TTX Probe? Is there a place in these forums to sell it, or is eBay the only way to go? Hope these aren't dumb questions.

Hey Fuzz, you bumped a thread that hasn't seen activity in about 18 months.

If you want to sell on a forum there are some forums that allow selling, Knife-BST and CPFmarketplace are two of them.

Transformation toughened zirconium The TTZ Probe was basically a one piece ceramic prybar.

As for selling it is not allowed here. eBay, or one of the forums where selling and trading are allowed, such as BladeForums, KnifeForums, USN, and CandlePowerForums would be your options.

I'm just amazed that you can use something so big as a key chain. Very Cool Though,

Donut and Deacon: I sort of figured this wasn't the place to sell a knife, so thanks for your suggestions. Ceramic pry bar? Not sure what "ceramic" means in this context but I am interested.

BTW, I have a Spyderco that's been in my pocket or clipped to my belt since about 1985 or so, but I don't know what model it is (and I wouldn't part with it, as it is a part of me). Where can I find the pictures to identify it?

Here's the description, quoted directly from The Spyderco Story. From the picture, it looks for all the world like a tent peg.
