Spyderco Delica, replacement parts/repair

#1

Post by Antonio »

Hello guys,

This is my first post here, and hope not the last. I have owned now for sometime a combo edge Delica 4 in VG10. Bought it at a Spanish shop here in Madrid, and price was around $125

Unfortunately, I had to dissasemble it because a lot of dirt were in the pivot, so after sometime my pivot screw is damaged, and my knife doesnt have any of both washers. Blade is still in good shape, I have been using the Sharpmaker to restore the edge.

My question is... Does anybody know if Spyderco can provide me replacement pivot/washers, and at what cost, or if I can send this knife to be repaired/restored to factory specs, and also at what cost?

Thanks!

Welcome aboard.

http://spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=290

17.50usd for a full parts kit on the c10/c11. Might want to try firing Charlynn at customerservice@spyderco.com a message to see if you can buy just the pivot and washers.

Thanks vampyrewolf,

I have sent a mail now. To be honest, because of a bad experience with another "good" brand of knives I didnt expected it to be fixed, but I will see how it goes, and if they can repair those minor things instead of paying for a brand new knife.

Btw, there is only a bit of side-to-side play and micro up-down play.

The folks at Spyderco will treat you well. Both customer service and warranty.

I've had issues with a couple other brands of production knives, trying to call normal use abuse so they didn't have to do $5 worth of work. The only complaints I've seen/heard for spyderco warranty is going cross-border back for work, either paying customs fees when it comes back, or have it go missing in someones pocket at customs.

You're obviously comfortable enough taking it apart and reassembling it, so simply getting a new pivot screw and washer fired off to you is the easiest way.

Thank guys! (I see im not the only spanish here!)

Charlynn asked me for my details to send those replacement parts instead of buying the whole kit.. awesome. I'll have to admit that im sold on spyderco knives, I dunno why :D but now I need a new :spyder: preferably made in USA, with S30V!

Hola Antonio,

SPyderco will treat you well :) As already mentioned you can get the spare parts kit from SPyderco and if the Delica is your main EDC item then I would recommend the kit because you will then have a few extras in the parts drawer afterwards for tinkering ;)

Also, don't listen to Peter... he is wrong you see because Spyderco is not the 'good' brand... it is the BEST brand :D tsk tsk Peter, I will have to set El Presidente onto you for only the mild compliments about our round-holed tools :)
Cheers

Hello guys,

I would like to let everyone know that I have received today the Spyderco Catalog, including the replacement parts! I have installed the parts and now my knife is again rock solid with 0 side to side play.

10/10 for Spyderco. (I have seen a paramilitary... :D but its a bit big for EDC).

Sigh, just lost my Delica 4 pivot screws. I've been experiencing a lot of bladeplay before i lost it but ignored to fix it. I had thoughts of loctiting it but never had a chance. Anyways does anyone know if they would send me a pivot screw?

Possibly, but the only way to know for sure is to call and ask.

If you have RIT dye, you can dye it black. But of course if your knife is already black, that defeats the purpose.
