Tom Krein Reground Delica 4 in ZDP-189

Just some pics of my Tom Krein Reground ZDP-189 Delica 4.
This knife rocks. It was reground to 0.010" behind the edge. The thing cuts like nothing I have ever seen or used. It scares me actually. I mean it scares me because I've cut myself on my left thumb with it and I never felt it. I mean I really never felt it.
I did polish the clip. This is my work EDC these days.
Tom is crazy skilled at what he does. I cannot stress enough to you that you NEED to send at least one of your knives to him to have reground. Really.
I like this knife so much that I will be sending him my Salt I next. I think I will have him do a 0.015" on the Salt I and make the tip more pointy. :)
Also, you don't have to get his logo on the knife. You can leave it blank. However I like it enough that I asked that he put it on the knife.

I'm glad you like the regrind

Hi David,
I'm glad that you like your Krein regrind. I think you will not regret having a second one done by him. Can't wait to see those pics next. I will be sending some Spyderco's out to Tom in May to have various regrinds done. Some full flat, one full convex, and perhaps a couple with high hollow grinds. I'm in the same pass around on another forum with you and there are only a couple people left in line before me. That pass around will help me decide which models to send. I'm anxious to try VG-10 thinned out like Tom does it.
Take care,
Doug

Great Krein David,
I'm saving up one of my Persians and possibly a D4 and something else for Tom to work on once I've saved up enough dough :p

Could I maybe see a pic from the spine? I am curious to see how thin the blade is now, especially at the tip. Thanks in advance.

Very nice Dave
I see you left the tip intact.
Congrats and enjoy :)

What's the cost for something like this?

ditto.
i was thinking of even getting a zdp delica PE to send to him to regrind straight out of the box.
already have a combo edge, and dont know how well that would work with a full flat grind

For blades less than 4 ", zdp is $45 plus $10 shipping and VG-10 is $35 plus $10 shipping.

bobo is right. At least that's what I paid. Mine was straight out of the box (other than the polished clip) when I sent it to him. I'm glad I did.
I also edited the original post to show a spine shot. For whatever reason I had two of the same pic. One was supposed to be the spine shot. If you need, I can get a spine shot with the knife open and maybe next to something else like my Centofante 4.
The tip is really thin. It's much thinner than the above picture with the knife closed shows. I'm going to try to get a better picture.
It's almost too thin. I think next time I will ask him to keep the tip a tad bit thicker.

Thanks David for the photos! I'm just about to send Tom a few Delica 4 ZDP-189's to regrind (we are going to start stocking some regrinds :) ) I'm really excited to get them back. Granted I could regrind them myself, but Tom does such nice work... and he has that sweet logo. :D
I do have a Para that I reground... mmmm it slices so nicely :)

Does he grind far enough down that the blade loses length? I am thinking of sending my combo edge VG-10 Endura to him.
I wish he would get his website updated and improved.

David, glad to hear you like the ZDP regrind. The Delica was my cheap alternative to try out the ZDP after I tried it I went and got a Stretch 2 for my edc. I also got a Caly Jr locally but it hasn't gotten too much pocket time yet. The Stretch and Caly Jr to me feel better in the hand. Tom did an awesome job looks alot better than my do-it-yourself.
Attached a picture to show the blade to handle ratio difference between the Stretch and Delica.
Kev.

Can someone post a link to Tom's site? I wasn't able to find it though Google.

Thanks David! Yikes, now I understand the comment above about the website needing to be updated. That is a truly gruesome site design! Man, I wish I could spend 30 minutes with Tom and work on a redesign with him.
