Tenacious Lock Question

#1

Post by schofer »

The liner lock on my new tenacious engages about 2/3 of the way across the blade... gets pretty close to touching the liner on the far side of the blade. Is this 'normal'? Will the lock have a much shorter life-span? (Or do liners wear so slowly that it really doesn't matter?)

From pictures posted on this forum, it looks like a typical tenacious engages just enough so that the lock is fully engaged with the blade but not further (when looking down on the lock, the left edge of the lock lines up with the left edge of the blade.) Clearly, mine engages quite a bit further... but I don't know if it is a problem.

Advice appreciated.

Not really sure if it's normal or not. v8r and I each bought one when they first came out and his locks like yours does and mine locks like the typical one you referred to earlier. I don't think its really a problem. We use ours all the time cutting valve stems and such and his seems to lock just fine. As far as the lock wearing out, if you sling the thing open every time you use it, you can damage the top pin where the blade rests and then you will notice the liner lock moving further towards the right. Really I think your good. Imo if the lock is over a little more towards the center then its less likely to fail. No expert though.

Mine is 2/3 the way over also, but I would think this would be stronger due to the fact that the lock is completely engaged. ;) I wouldn't worry about it.They are inexpensive enough you could buy four for the price of one Millie :D , and I think that would be enough to last me a lifetime.

Just try to enloose pivot... I´ve had the same problem, two minutes of disassembling knife, cleaning and play with pivot - no problem anymore
