caly 3, t-mag, tasman
caly 3, t-mag, tasman
These knives comprise my current EDC rotation. I just got the caly 3 after the coupon code opportunity -- been waiting on that for a long time. I am surprised that the T-mag feels best in hand. I like the carbon fiber, the extra width, and the shape of the handle very much; however, I HATE the magnet / absence of a lock. Is there another Spyderco model similar in form but with a lock?
I cannot recall any knife, which would be very close. Worker C01 has some similarity in the shape of the blade. It was discontinued many years ago, but still can be found on the Forums(BF, KF, CPF and others) or auction. Most of them have SS or almite coated aluminum handles.

Hello, And welcome to the forums.
You might try either the Sage, or the Persian. The Sage has the carbon fiber, and a similar handle design to the T-Mag. The Persian has a blade somewhat like the T-Mag.
Another knife definitely worth checking out is the ParaMilitary. The blade shape on the Para is very functional, and the grip is comfortable, If you can get over that the grip/blade length ratio is atypical for a folder.
thank you

If you find one, or even a proper (UKPK type) slipjoint with that blade shape, then please let me know!gilliu wrote:the T-mag feels best in hand. I agree that the t-mag has a great feel in hand. One thing you can do with it is tighten up the pivot good and proper - it holds almost like a fixed blade - and probably wouldnt take too much to actually turn into a fixed blade.
Alternatively, get used to the magnet :) Its as eminently useable as any slip joint / swiss army knife.
Agree re caly3 - its pretty cool - there is a caly3 with CF scales too I believe. I love the CF texture on the t-mag, I must admit.
