Which spydie would you say fits your hand the best, factoring in comfort, various grips and lastly a confidence factor?

I included confidence because some knives make me feel like I might hurt myself during hard use - and I find that great design and "fit" seems to minimise both this feeling and any actual risk too.

For my medium sized hand, it is the mini-manix, whether choked up to choil or further back, forward or reverse, light slicing, shaving or hard cutting.

In a larger folder, it's definitely the Stretch / Stretch II for me. Perfect fit, total control, and very comfortable in all the grips I normally use. Plus it fits very nicely when I drop it into the back pocket of my jeans. I'd rate the C83 Persian a very close second.

Small folder, the Kiwi. Great ergos, great looks.

But, in fairness, my parameters are probably different from yours. I cannot remember the last time I needed to use reverse grip and if I'm planning something were "confidence" becomes a major concern I'll opt for a fixed blade every time.

For me the question of fit comes down to overall comfort for extended use.

The military, kris, calypso jr and ss 'fly all fit my paws well (actually the ss 'fly hides). I have put both the military and dragonfly models through their paces and know that I can use them hard.

But if it comes down to putting any real force behind a cut, I carry a fixed blade.

I'm taking the year off for my shoulder (no golf, no tennis, no chopping wood) but usually I carry a 21" baton when I expect trouble.

For a large folder, the Military has an awesome grip. The only thing better is a full-sized Manix. The grip on the Manix is absolute perfection.

For something smaller, I am blown away by the comfort of the Delica4. I have no idea how Spyderco was able to put so much grip into such a small folder. From a grip perspective, it blows away the mini-Griptilian. I also love the ergonomics of the Cal3.

In terms of comfort, my Caly Jr, Kopa, and Kiwi have great ergos for me. I have confidence in all my Spydercos for the uses I put them to, but in the case of using more force or different grips, I would opt for a Delica or Stretch.

Large Folder? The Full-size Manix has been my go-to EDC for quite a while now.

Small Folder? The Frame on the DKPK/Caly 3 have the best ergos for me.

SS Handle blade? The Lava, with the Poliwog a close second.

Fixed Blade? Hands down the Perrin Street Beat.

Most Uncomfortable?

A tie between the Kerambit and the Spyderfly.

Small knife; Dodo, the Dodo's ergonomic handle is absolutely brilliant, allowing unprecedented control over the blade

Medium knife; Endura 4 series

Large knife; Manix, yet another Eric Glesser masterpiece, the Manix handle just melts into the hand

Out of the few spydies I have, and with a medium/large hand. Ill say the most comfortable and best fitting are definately my newest, the dodo :) ,And then my Ukpk and native.

If it wasn't for the "brick in pocket" feeling of the lil temp, I'd have that little tank on the list. Just waiting to see what sal does with the 2nd gen, though I figure it just needs a better clip.

#1 for me is the Kris. THE best feeling/handling knife I own.

For reliability I would have to say the Street Beat. It is a beautiful knife. I would also have to say the Swick locks in quite well for me, although to be absolutely perfect I would either need a slightly bigger knife, or smaller hands. The Swick is a great desigin and if you hand matches the blade you will feel like it is part of you.

For a folder I like the fit of the Police 3. It is very well designed for perfect hand ergos. You would think the handles was more for looks then feel, but sometimes the perfect feel is the perfect look. I also like the ability to choke up on the blade and use the undersided finger choil for more detailed cuts.

I have XL hands. The Kiwi is the smallest knife that really fits well, albeit with a 3 1/2 finger grip. The Caly Jr. fits perfectly for a medium "delicate" blade. For a big knife nothing can beat my M4 Mule because I spent a month alternately using it and shaping the handle. I imagine that the perfect large folder for me is the C95 Manix. I'll buy the new one when it comes out if the handle is like the original.

The Superhawk is king for me.

Without a doubt the mini Manix. Fits my hand better than any knife I have ever held.

OK. 2 come to my mind.

In the Larger Knife category, the stretch 2 fits wonderfully in my hand.

In the smaller knife category, the Sage is my current favorite.

For the past few months it's been all Golden Co models. The Military, Manix, Ukpk, Dodo, and Yojimbo. Every one of them feels great in hand. I'm totally covered with these for just about any task. G10, S30v, Spydercos from Golden. They're awesome!

The most ergonomic handle in the Spydie line-up is the Temperance fixed blade for me. In larger folders it's a toss up between the Persian and the Stretch II. I like the Kukri and Caly III best in medium sized folders. Smaller folder with ergonomic handles are the Kopa and Lava.
