If you have bought them with your own money (not store funds; in some businesses, there's no difference), they are yours, but you're not gonna make much money keeping em all. My solution? Keep no more than three of the shipment for yourself, the ones you like most and/or the ones you won't get again in a new shipment for a while (my local "general store", hard to explain exactly what it is, has a hard time keeping Natives and Delicas in stock, but many other models just sit there). That way, you'll eventually get the knives you want, even if you have to wait till the next shipment, and you don't feel as bad about selling the rest. Of course, how many you can keep depends on how many knives and how many types you get in a shipment. If you get moderately big shipments, say eight types, five knives each (that's a lot of knives!), this works, but if you only buy to replace sold knives, only getting three to five knives per shipment, keeping em makes less sense.
