Oh no! Lost my burgundy Calypso Jr.!

I used to carry my Caly Jr with me on a daily basis, and kept it inside of my computer bag. During the winter holidays I visited my parents, and didn't take my knife because I can't pass through security with it.

This is where things get sad - my girlfriend asked me if she could borrow my bag while she traveled home as well, and I of course had no problem with that, but forgot to tell her my spydie was inside. Anyway, she travels from San Francisco to Atlanta and is not stopped in security (weird), but on the way back they see the knife in the x-ray, and because she's running late she had no choice but to let them confiscate my burgundy, zdp-189, calypso jr. :(

So - she's told me she would replace the knife for me and feels very bad which is very sweet, but what she doesn't know is how difficult it is to replace. I've looked on ebay, online stores, google search, etc., and can't seem to find them for sale anywhere.

Any ideas where I can still find one of these bad boys? I remember the good 'ol days when you could just hop on ebay and buy one for ~$60-$80. If I can't find one anywhere, I'm thinking about the G10 Caly 3, but I'll miss the ZDP and the color. I'm not totally sure how I feel about the look of the CF one.

Right now I'm carrying a benchmade knife I have until I find my replacement, and it makes me miss my Caly every day!

Sorry to hear that....

Other places to look besides ebay include knifebst.com and the For Sale threads over at BladeForums.com under the "Exchange" sub-forum. Sorry I couldn't be of much more help.

Welcome to the forums by the way. Hate seeing your first post being about losing a favorite Spyderco though. Hopefully you'll find a replacement soon.

Welcome to the world of hurt! I have left knives in numerous hotels etc. and wished that I had them back. One will show up on ebay but at a premium.

I'm actually not totally new to the forums, I just haven't been on in a long long time because I've been totally happy with my Caly Jr. for the past few years.

I guess I'll just check ebay every day until one pops up.

I've been watching the forums every day for the last couple months and in that time I've seen quite a few Caly Jr's sell - they weren't all burgundy, many were gray and black, but I've seen a burgundy or two sell as well. So, while it sucks that you lost yours, don't worry TOO much because I'm sure you'll be able to find one for sale within a few weeks!

Found one but...

I found one on countryknives.com but it's pricy...if you don't mind switching handle color the black handled one is a bit less expensive.

Holy moly, that is expensive on countryknives. Maybe its time to embrace the times and get a Caly 3!

You could get the grey one for $100. Its only $10-20 more and its at least the shape and style your used to.

Just my 2 pennies.

The Caly Jr was a scalpel not just because of the ZDP, but also because of the razor thin edge.

If you are looking to replace it, you definitely want to go with a full flat ground.

I would recommend the UKPK if you can deal with the lack of lock. It is an improvement on the Caly Jr in terms of ergonomics, the clip, and the handle material. The blade doesn't have as narrow an edge as the Caly Jr, but the S30V is sort of "toothy" which will make up for that to some extent.

I am truly sorry for your loss.
One of the very few Spidies I have that is a Safe Queen is a Burgundy Calypso Jr.
Also sorry that I can't help you. I have four Jr's and am holding on to them.

Good luck!
