The Para Military. Thank You!

I use my pocket knife everyday. Tasks range from cutting a loose thread to carving up a whole chicken to opening up packages and breaking down cardboard. Starting as a young boy, I've always appreciated the ability to have a tool on me that would get the job done. There have been lapses of years when I didn't carry. Since September 2008, I have carried and used a knife every single day. I read so much on these forums that I drove to the local knife shop to find out what all the fuss was about the Spyderco knives. I ended up walking out with a Stretch that was calling my name. Seriously. This knife had probably been in that case for 3 years. Seems like it was waiting for me.

Since the Stretch, I bought the Caly3 on recommendations here. I wanted something that was more non-knife people friendly. It's a fine knife. It just felt a bit inadequate for me. It was like I was compromising what works for me. Along comes the Para Military. Wow. Just Wow. This is the best all-around knife that I have ever owned. Period. The lock mechanism (if you can even call it a mechanism) is so solid, so elegant. One handed closing is superb. Held like I grip my chefs knife, the grip is perfect. The knife is so balanced and the blade is heavy enough to not worry about hard use. The kicker is it's made right here in the United States of America. Golden Colorado, Earth.

My quest for the perfect folder has ended. Thanks to everyone here who contribute to this forum. Without you I would have probably spend way too much time and money hunting for a knife that really works for me. I might post a review with photos to help others decide if this knife suits them as well. Thanks again to everyone here and thank you Spyderco!

+1 on everything gldfshkpr said!
I've been in awe of how well the D2 para suits my needs from the first day I bought it. This very rarely ever leaves my side. This too is my perfect folder.
I'll look forward to seeing what future developments Sal has in mind for this model...

Thanks Sal!

Jeremy.

I got one about 3 days ago, a D2, and I can't say enough about how great this knife is. Perfect grip, balance and the feel of a huge knife in a smaller package. My Spyder quest has by no means come to an end but this is a knife that could stop your search if all you need is one good knife. Thanks to Sal and all the folks @Spyderco.
