formal spydies?

#1

Post by redhawk44357 »

I, like you all, change out frequently depending on the occasion. So when i get spiffy, i grab my stainless delica, endura, and harpie. The shine gives them that "ritzie" look. i have others for work and for just running anound. So, do you have knives reserved for the classier times and what do you carry?

Depends on how "classy" the occasion, and the company I'll be in. For "suit and tie" meetings at work, I either carry a C27 Jess Horn or one of my engraved Kiwis. Plenty big enough for cutting the string on a box of baked goodies and gets the job done without causing any unintentional discharge of bodily waste by the more ovine of my coworkers. Other times, when the atmosphere is less liberal infested, I just carry my Desert Ironwood C83 Persian or Lignum Vitae Stretch.

The Deacon, The Poet :D . And he didn't even knowit ;) .
Don't often have the opportunity for dressing up. Live in denim jeans. But when I do put on a fancier shirt when taking the Mrs out, then its my Viele II or Adventura or something similar.

My EDCs are include: C83 Persian, Caly3 and Kopa Cocobolo, which IMHO perfectly for almost any occasion. The exclusion, which comes to my mind, is when we go to NYC, when I carry Kopa and Micro-Dyad.

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

Roman's thinking as well as his carry choices mirror mine... or is that vice-versa ? :D

I too go for Large Persian, Caly 3, Kopa Cocobolo. The others I reach for on special occasions are not far from the above : Kopa Black Micarta and Mini Persian. On some occasions I do grab the Lava S/S or the custom Lava FG micarta.

I have a feeling that a few more Kopas will be 'broken' in 2009 to join my EDC pile :D

It's hard to post while laughing this hard! :D

For me, either CF Caly 3 or etched Cricket, depending on just how formal the occasion.

The Cricket SE is my small "formal knife", and if I'm not in the mood to care what people think I'll carry the Harpy and/or Police 3 SE.

The ever classy SS Dragonfly in PE started out as my "slacks knife", but has since seen more and more frequent EDC action. While the "sheeple reaction" is annoying, most of them are good people who just didn't grow up around people who carried pocket knives and so never discovered the joy of a convenient sharp edge. Why, I couldn't tell you, but they're out there. In the near future, I have my eyes set on a mini Persian.

Mother of pearl Kiwi. The rest of my :spyder: folders are FRN or G-10. Now, if I need a semi-dressy knife, I grab the Manix. The lanyard-end of the Manix, with its metal liners and backspacer, looks pretty good in ones pocket.

I also like to carry the Adventura on dressier occasions and also rotate in my T-Mag every once in a while. T-Mag will probably get more dressy pocket time once I acquire a deep carry Caly3 wire clip for it.

For dressy, I like the CF Caly. It's pretty small and doesn't really stand out. Another one like is the black micarta Caly Jr.
