Grab the YO
usually $200 - $300 )It can always go higher, but very rarely.
Depends on mainly the color and condition.
take care
aj
p.s many other variables but this is the going price nowadays

If it's a black Yojimbo at a decent price I would be jumping all over it from a collector standpoint. It truly amazes me how color in this case can be such a huge factor but it truly is with the Yojimbo. Now there are 2 things you want to determine about the Spyderench. First of all you want to find out if it's one of the older original models. If it is it will have a knife blade made of 440C blade steel. It will also more than likely be in one of the older white Spyderco boxes. Everyone of the older Spyderenchs I had were in the 1990s or early 2000s era boxes. If it is in an older white box and it has 440C blade steel I would grab it as a collector piece to be sure.
Now if you want to use the Spyderench as a great multi-tool it doesn't matter which one because they are both good.
Now if you want the Yojimbo to use then it doesn't matter whether or not it is black or blue. Because it is the very same knife. Both of them will do well in the collector market over time but the black one will fare better I believe.
But from a collector standpoint just make sure the Spyderench is one of the older models. There's just not as many of them around as there are the newer ones

I agree with both gentlemen above....
Interesting choice for you to make though. Usually we see request for knife vs. knife. Here you have a 'tool' vs knife :D
If they are to be users then it really doesn't matter which one you get because both will end up being not NIB anymore. However a user Yojimbo will fetch a higher ROI than the Spyderrench IMHO.
But, I can see in everyday situation the SPyderench would be a more useful tool and also more NKP friendly.
On collectors, and specifically the Yojimbo as a collector, I will have to concur that the Black one seems more 'valuable' and thus more expensive to buy in the open market. One reasoning is that because black is generally more used by people it means that it is rarer that a NIB black one is available, thus price goes up ! You see many more Blue Yoyos for sale NIB than you do Black Yoyos.
It is my most unscientific guesstimate from my trawling of the net and elsewhere that the Black Yoyos seem to fetch about 10-20% more than the Blue Yoyos. And AJ's figures of between $200-300 is about right. I have seen some go for under $200 (but not by much) and some go over the $300 mark as well (and again not by too much).
If you are lucky enough to find one for investment then go grab a Yoyo. If for a user, then I say congrats to you as well. It is a very nicest folding pocket scalpel and you will be the envy of many people :D

Firstly thanks for the prompt replies. the information you have given me will help me make the decision. (definitely leaning to the yojimbo) and yes it is a PE black that will cost me under the 200$ mark about 180 i think will be going back tomorrow to the shop to try to finalize things and to double check the spyderwrench if it is 440c
thanks again everyone....
Oh and on a side note... am a lefty and i found the compression lock to be quite easy to operate, which surprised me frankly... am not a fan of liner lock type locks but looks like i will learn.. hehehe

I have sold a Yojimbo in the last year, it was a blue one and went for around $170. As noted the black Yojimbo does sell for more... So $180 for it (which I bet is MSRP for when it was in production) is a fair price. Actually at this point it is a good price.
And yea, get it over the Spyderwrench... :D
