Hey Tom,

I got myself a Khukuri a few days ago... Sorry no photos yet, maybe next week.

This knife is very impressive. The fit and finish is top notch, some of the best I have ever seen from spyderco. It has a very nice slim profile, making it completely disapear in your pocket. The lockup and detent are as solid as I have ever seen! They make the Military seem week actually. This is also probably the smoothest Spyderco I have ever owned. It seems Spyderco has made a change to Nylon washers, which I think is a good choice.

Ergonomics are top notch, Ed Schempp did a fantastic job. I am almost certian I will be getting another one.

I know once people hold this it will become a classic!

I have one and I bought it about 2 weeks ago. I love this knife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This design allows me to choke up on the blade for very detailed cutting or to put pressure on the back of the blade for more powerful cutting. This design of the advanced choil on the blade gives great control of the blade in many different applications. This is very rapidly becoming my favorite Spyderco knife. The workmanship is about the best I have seen in a factory knife. The liner lock has a strong ball detent that keeps the blade closed and the liner lock is very well centered on the tang of the blade. And as Tricod said it has a slim line fit in the pocket or IWB which I prefer. You might be able to chop by grasping the end of the handle with your thumb and first 2 fingers for more leverage in a chopping application but this is not where the design works best. This knife may look like a Khukri but it functions like a very well designed EDC. Give it a try you will not be dissapointed.

Not Sure if this is better or worse than Pictures, but it was faster than pictures thats for sure.

Listen as well, tells you alot about the strong detent and lock.

There is a chance you may view it before youtube has finished processing it, so just give it a few min.

wow I thought the knife would be a lot bigger than that. The odd shape seems to actually work out very well in the hand.

Awesome, thanks for the video!

For anyone who owns one, is there jimping on the thumb ramp, or is it smooth? Does it feel like it would be good in the thrust, or is it mostly a slicer?

Thanks,
Mark

There's no jimping. Even without the jimping the handle provide a pretty secure grip.

Schempp Khukuri pictures

#14

Post by edrose »

Actually it isn't mine, but I handled the Khukuri for a few hours, and made pictures too – also taking it in my hand which can be useful to have an idea on the dimensions – it's smaller then one can imagine.

I wrote a short presentation on our Hungarian Knife Forum, you can see the pictures here:
http://kesportal.hu/?p=334

In my opinion this Schempp Khukuri is a very well made, really fine quality Spydie with impressive, strong liners and smooth action. I really liked it, yet it's still a bit strange.

Souns like typical Schempp design - fits the hand like a glove without any real need for jimping.

Thanks for the pics Ed!
