Waved delica 4 ,endura 4 handle color question!

#1

Post by SSB »

I just got the fully serrated versions of the waved delica 4 & endura 4 . The handle color appears different than the pe variations of the waves?
anyone else notice this?
The se versions look like british racing green, where as the pe's look blue(grey).
Both box color codes read GY.
What's up?
Are the part serrated versions a diferent color too?
I'll try & get pics soon.

I think you might be right. I have a PE "Emerson Opener" Delica, and the handle is blue/grey. On Spyderco VT, the SE "Emerson Opener" Delicas look do be more green.

I have just bought all 4 of the new variations and hope they are grey they are supposed to be... as a collector of FRN, colour is important to me. I hope they are grey.

Anyone any pictures? heres a few as a yard-stick....

No, he's saying that the serrated Endura/Delica "Emerson" models are a greener color than the plain edge variants.

The SE Delica and Endura I have are the same blue/gray as the PEs. I'll try and take a picture that conveys the color more accurately.

Most obvious questions would be where did you purchase the knife, and what does the box say?

One of the "downsides" of screw construction is that, unless you purchase a knife from a reputable dealer, there is no guarantee it was not a "donor" for some other user's "scale transplant". Even a reputable dealer who was either not particularly meticulous, or not particularly knowledgeable about Spyderco's product line, could have been taken advantage of by an unscrupulous customer who returned the unwanted byproduct of such a swap, then resold it.

Then again, if the knife was purchased on eBay, there'd be at least an outside chance you merely negelected to read the fine print.

My PE and CE D4W's are exactly the same color. Can't tell 'em apart when closed.

Has anyone got any close up photos of the 4 new waved variants with serrated blades and part serrated blades so I can see what you mean by this Greenish colour? ;)

Thanks in advance.

It appears i may have erred!
Possibly the lighting condition, possibly my eyesight not being what it used to be! :o
Upon reinspection & comparrisson to the zdp delica i have concluded the pe & se waves are indeed the same color. Sorry Ian for the aggravation ;)

I don't understand why the colour of the waved E4/D4 is described as "grey". It's always looked like a bluish-green to me. I think the person responsible for the misnomer might be suffering from some red-green colour blindness.

maybe the zdp,s arent selling as much as the cheaper version vg10 so they are using the zdp handles on the ce & se waves

I posted them all together to show people there was no colour variation (well slight) as was previously thought in this topic.. :)

I agree with awlriteeden that what I call Gray is like the Goddard grey a light gray, not a slate gray.

Just replace the liners and backspacers along with em, and you should be fine.

Some have done it successfully but, IIRC, there have been more problems with that than with swapping blade and lockbar sets between two FRN versions.
